Zack Snyder is my all-time favorite filmmaker: if it weren't for him I wouldn't be aspiring to become a writer and director myself, there has yet to be a movie by him that I don't like, and he made my all time favorite movie. Today is his birthday, Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice is coming out soon, and the anniversary of a lot of his movies are this month so today is the perfect day to release this list. Happy Birthday Zack!

6. 'Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole' (2010)

Yeah, I bet most of you forgot that Snyder made this movie and even I sometimes forget because it's so different than most of his other movies... but that just goes to show how great he is as a filmmaker. Visually, this is one of the most amazing animated movies I have ever seen in my life; I didn't expect much from the movie but I was surprised to see that I fell in love with the characters, was blown sky-high by the animation and CGI, and the direction of course was astounding.

5. 'Dawn of the Dead' (2004)

Many say that a remake can never be better than the original: upon saying this I usually immediately point to Zack Snyder's retelling of a group of survivors in the zombie apocalypse seeking salvation in a mall. The gore is spot on, genius soundtrack, great actors, some decent scares, and for me it introduced the best zombies in movie history: sprinters. For the first movie to ever make? This was a damn good start.

4. '300' (2007)

C'mon, it's 300. It's a perfect action, fantasy, testosterone-filled, bloody, violent, awesomeness extravaganza, filled with some of the best quotes in Hollywood, amazing visuals and fight scenes, and just overall an extremely fun movie that will never get old.

3. Sucker Punch

Unpopular opinion, I know, but I freaking love Sucker Punch! I mean it features a girl fighting three giant samurai warriors (one of them has a mini-gun) with a pistol and a samurai sword. Nazi zombies, mechs, dragons, robots, etc. HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE THIS MOVIE?!

It's pure fun throughout with a great villainous performance from Oscar Isaac, possibly the coolest soundtrack ever, and it is visual nirvana. I know many don't like this movie but I adored it.

2. Man of Steel

Possibly Zack Snyder's most controversial film. People are split down the middle with this one: they either really love this movie or really hate it... pretty obvious which side of the coin I'm on. You have my favorite superhero ever created in celluloid by my all time favorite director... match made in heaven. I loved all the updates to Superman and the lore, the movie's cast is fantastic, the action is everything I wanted from Superman for years.

Henry Cavill is now my new definitive Superman and I cannot wait to see him go head-to-head with Ben Affleck's Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Thank you for bringing my childhood hero to life for a new generation, Snyder.

1. Watchmen

I already did a whole article about how this movie changed my life forever; it was right before the movie came out that they released behind-the-scenes featurettes on the movie and because I was so excited for Watchmen, I re-watched them so many times so that when I saw the movie, and how everything I saw in the behind-the-scenes came together, I suddenly gained a want to do the same thing: make a movie. So my love for film grew even more and if it weren't for Watchmen, I wouldn't be here writing for or aspiring to be a filmmaker. Watchmen is not only my favorite Zack Snyder movie but it is also my all time favorite movie. I mean, check out this insane opening sequence:

So that is my ranking of this incredible artist's work. Hope you all enjoyed and please give me your thoughts in the comments below! Thank you Zack Snyder for inspiring me, you helped me find my dream job. Also have a great birthday!
