When we heard that the Marcia fucking Brady of the Upper East Side, Sarah Michelle Gellar, was back behind the helm as Kathryn in the upcoming Cruel Intentions 'sequel' series, we were obviously utterly stoked. And, understandably, began to muse over who else from the original cast could return.
A resurrected Sebastian a.k.a. Ryan Phillippe perhaps? Maybe Cecile Caldwell a.k.a. Selma Blair, now a fully fledged member of the Secret Society? Or Annette Hargrove, a.k.a. Reese Witherspoon, who is still being an all-round good human?
Well, as it turns out, Annette Hargrove will be in the reprisal which is set 15 years after we left off. Reese Witherspoon, however, wasn't even asked! Instead we have Drop Dead Diva star Kate Levering taking on the role, which makes me a little sad but as Sebastian would say, who am I to criticize something I've never experienced?
The shows narrative will follow,
"Follow the beautiful and cunning Kathryn Merteuil as she vies for control of Valmont International as well as the soul of Bash Casey, the son of her brother, who was the late Sebastian Valmont, and Annette Hargrove. Upon discovering his late father's legacy in a hidden journal, Bash is introduced to a world of sex, money, power, and corruption he never could have imagined."
