I hope you're ready for a lot more Star Wars! EA are already teasing multiple [Star Wars: Battlefront](tag:2684021) sequels as well as two new mystery titles!

Star Wars Battlefront has shipped well over 13 Million copies since release, coupled with the astounding success of Star Wars mobile games, EA have stated that there will be a lot more to come from the franchise.

Speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference in San Francisco, EA's CFO Blake Jorgensen revealed that EA will be dedicating the next decade to developing the Star Wars gaming universe.

Working in collaboration (not contractual) with J.J. Abrams, he stated that EA would be bouncing off Disney's epic portrayal of the franchise for both narrative content and gameplay locations.

"As everyone knows, with Star Wars, there is an unlimited amount of things you can do with the content. And as Disney starts to add more and more new content, that gives fuel to our ability to add more games around it."

Anything Specific?

Specific? How about – the next Star Wars game to feature a story mode set within in an open world!?

EA have stated that their next Star Wars game will be headed up by former Ubisoft producer Jade Raymond and by former Uncharted director and writer Amy Hennig.

Both massive players on the open-world, RPG scene - these video game legends are individually renowned for creating huge, diverse beautiful worlds. With these two gaming legends at the helm of the Star Wars universe, EA have a genuine shot at creating the world’s most indulgent open world adventure ever.

The fact that this is also a Star Wars game is the icing on the cake! The depth of the Star Wars universe is countered only by the scale of the franchise itself. Just imagine exploring these iconic locations for the first time in a totally open world environment - it's almost too much to process right now.

An extra surprise to come?

Make that two surprises, Jorgensen went onto to say –

"We've got a couple of things up our sleeve that we haven't talked about yet but you'll probably see them teased over the next six months," Jorgensen said.

Whether this is in regards to the Star Wars franchise or something else entirely is unclear. We do know that BioWare are currently working on a brand new IP for EA - I was expecting a BioWare announcement in June at E3 - so this does seem to fit with Jorgensen's time frame.

What the other surprise will be, I do not know. It may even be a previously axed Star Wars game. Star Wars 1313 perhaps? The title that was centric to Boba Fett's character.

So, "the sky's the limit" according to Jorgensen. With EA hailing 2016/17 as an "embarrassment of riches" the future seems extremely bright for us gamers.

Whether you are a Star Wars fan or not, EA seem to have all the bases covered. With huge titles such as UFC 2, Titanfall 2, the new Battlefield, Mass Effect Andromeda, and Mirror's Edge Catalyst - to name a few - it would appear that EA's line up for 2016/17 will not be shy of some real hard-hitting entertainment.

What do you want from the next Star Wars game?
