A successful character is one that is relatable to the audience of the short. The character must interact with its culture and have inner needs and goals.
The character must have social relationships, desires and ambitions.
The short must depict the individual voice of the character. In addition, the character must participate in action within the short.
To create depth in a character and make it more successful,
the director must communicate the following aspects of the character: purpose, motivation, conflict, a belief system / morals, behavior or attitude, and background.
