News of casting confirmation for ABC's Dirty Dancing remake just keeps on coming this week, with the news that Modern Family's Sarah Hyland will be joining the production!
Deadline has reported that Hyland, who is most familiar for playing Haley Dunphy on Modern Family, has been cast in the role of Lisa Houseman, the elder sister of main character, Baby Houseman.
Lisa Houseman was played by actress Jane Brucker in the 1987 original movie. Most Dirty Dancing fans will remember her stirring rendition of 'Hula Hana' as she prepared to wow crowds at Kellerman's end-of-season talent show:
Hyland will join a star-studded cast on the remake, including Abigail Breslin as Baby Houseman, Cole Prattes as Johnny Castle, Debra Messing as Marjorie Houseman and Nicole Scherzinger as Penny Johnson.
The 3-hour TV musical is set to be written by Jessica Sharzer (American Horror Story), with original screenwriter Eleanor Bergstein acting as executive producer. Meanwhile Tony Award winning choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler will be coordinating those iconic dance moves.
