The next Call of Duty is set to debut in June at this year’s E3, despite the fact that Activision will not actually be attending the event!

Activision recently announced that they will not be attending this year’s E3 event. Instead they will be showcasing their games via third party partners. Infinity Wards "ambitious new game" will be presented via Sony's expo session at the event.

"In June, we’re going to be at E3 showcasing gameplay from Infinity Ward’s ambitious new game. We’re looking forward to sharing exciting new details about the next great Call of Duty game in partnership with our friends at PlayStation. We’re proud to be participating in this premier video game event, but won’t have an Activision booth on the show floor.

Activision's partnership with Playstation began back in 2015 just prior to the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 - the deal runs on until mid 2017. Presumably this will mean that the next Call of Duty will release first on Playstation with certain Playstation exclusive bonuses.

Activision traditionally make their new Call of Duty announcements in late April to early May, so this works well into their schedule. I imagine we will see a few screenshots or game art prior to the announcement. Infinity Ward will want the hype train running at full speed before June.

Infinity Ward's new project is said to be "ambitious" and "Innovative" - let’s not forget that this studio is responsible for bringing us the Modern Warfare series - so I don’t expect anything less.

Following on from Modern Warfare was Call of Duty: Ghosts - the first Call of Duty to hit the Xbox One/PS4 - this was not as well received as their previous ventures however. Not that Ghosts wasn't good - it just wasn't great when compared back to MW. hes h.

Whatever is being cooked up over at Infinity Ward - I am sure that it will be something pretty special. There is a special place in my heart that I reserve for Infinity Ward games -that's the power of Modern Warfare for you!

What do you want from the next Call of Duty? Let us know below.
