When it was first announced that Baywatch would be getting a reboot, the natural question on all of our minds was: Which cast members from the original would make their way to this new beach? The cast is already stacked with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Zac Efron, Priyanka Chopra and Alexandra Daddario, but you can never have enough of a good thing when it comes to protecting our shores.
Now, The Rock has confirmed that at least one major star from the '90s show will be appearing in the new feature film, and it's none other than David Hasselhoff.
The Rock Couldn't Be More Excited About The Hoff's Arrival
This hopefully means more of those quintessential slow-motion running scenes from new and old cast members alike. In addition to his Instagram post, The Rock took to Facebook to stoke interest in the upcoming R-rated Baywatch movie:
"I WAS BORN READY!" Pleasure to officially welcome the original #BAYWATCH gangsta himself David Hasselhoff to our movie! #BAYWATCH is the most successful TV show of all time and from the day we announced we were turning it into a movie, "The Hoff" has been our greatest supporter. Especially once he knew our RATED R movie was going to be a combination of AVENGERS meets ANCHORMAN....
Hoff's a cool dude who's down to have fun and here's the best part.. He's been training his ass off and gotten in the best shape he's been in in years! (cue slo-mo running and glistening chest hair.. wait, why the f*ck am I even thinking about Hoff's chest hair!?) World get ready.. #RockAndHoff #ThereAintNoBay #WithoutTheHoff"
I gotta agree that there ain't no Bay without The Hoff, but his casting opens up possibilities for the rest of the actors in the original show. Will we see Pamela Anderson? Yasmine Bleeth, will you be making an appearance? I suppose we'll have to wait until another wave of news rolls in.
'Baywatch' hits theaters on May 19, 2017!
