First off, I would like to start by saying I am twenty five years old. I have seen many classic films that people will deem as some of the greatest cinema of all time. Those films will not be on my list. My list is my list. If you disagree, that is fine. If you agree, great! My list is going to be very odd to some people, and probably make a lot of sense to others. But I hope you all enjoy!
5. Superbad (2007)
This movie makes me laugh out loud every time I watch it. I cannot get enough of this movie. It was one of the first R rated films I got to see in theaters, and it is an experience I will never forget. This, to me, is one of the greatest comedies of all time.
4. The Dark Knight (2008)
This to me is the greatest comic book movie ever made. I cannot express my love and adoration more for this film. I believe Heath Ledger (RIP) gave us one of the greatest performances of all time in this film. From the opening scene of this movie, I was hooked. Nolan's trilogy was brilliant, but The Dark Knight is by far the best.
3. The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)
I am a huge Leo fan. This to me is his greatest performance. I saw The Revenant. It was an experience I'll tell you that. But was it Leo's best performance? Not in my eyes. This movie is hilarious! And the performances are amazing. Scorsese takes us on a journey of sex, drugs and money like I've never seen before. I could not take my eyes off the screen. Three hours long, and not one dull moment. That is cinema genius right there.
2. The Lion King (1994)
This one was tough. The Lion King was almost my #1 movie of all time. It is my all time childhood favorite film. And I believe one of the greatest movies of all time. Not just animated movies, but all of film. It makes you laugh, cry and heap for joy. It is an emotional thrill ride and I love every minute of it. Hakuna Matata!
1. The Departed (2006)
Once again, Leo and Scorsese make my list and the number one spot. This is the greatest movie I have ever seen. With its all star cast, amazing directing and beautiful scenery, I could not take my eyes off the screen. I grew up Irish and Catholic and loved every second of this movie. Every time Shipping up to Boston comes on, I cannot help but think of this movie.
So, that is my top 5 films of all time. What did you guys think? What are some of your favorite films? Let me know in the comments!
