Rip watches a video log of his wife and son when Stein walks in asking what the plan is. The team receives a distress call from a fellow Time Master Captain Baxter who asks for help with her ship the Akeron which is stuck in space. Rip takes Stein, Jax and Mick in hopes that the Akeron will give them the upgrade for Gideon's time drive so they can find where Vandal is. He leaves Ray, Kendra, Sara and Snart to look after the ship, making Ray acting Captain. Rip tells Stein to stay in the jump ship just in case things should go wrong. On board the Akeron, Rip, Jax and Mick are taken hostage by time pirates who demand the Waverider in exchange for their lives. The time pirates led by John Valor attack the Waverider and damage it, prompting Snart and Sara to make repairs while Ray pilots it to evade them. They get away but the ship has taken heavy damage. Snart and Sara are locked in the engine room with the breach and nearly die of hypothermia after partially repairing the damage. Ray repairs the ship from the outside allowing Snart and Sara to get out of the engine room but being out in space runs out his oxygen. He makes it back into the Waverider and nearly dies but Kendra saves him. Mick, who has struck a deal with Valor to hand over the Waverider confronts the rest of the team. While Ray, Kendra and Snart handle the time pirates, Sara fights Mick who gains the upper hand. Snart shows up and takes down his friend. Stein is able to save Rip, Jax and Baxter. They make their escape, but not before Rip defeats Valor. The team reunites after Baxter gives Rip the upgrade for Gideon's time drive and her AI Gilbert tells Rip that Vandal is in 1959. Realizing that Mick is a danger to the team Snart decides to deal with him. The two share an emotional exchange with Mick stating that only one of them will walk away. Snart shoots him with his cold gun, leaving Mick's fate unknown.
Space Ranger Stein. Time Pirates. Rogue vs. Rogue. What more can one ask for? The action is always amazing on this shows and this episode was no different. Check out these notable scenes.
Captain Eve Baxter: Another Time Master who is the Captain of the Akeron. She shows an immediate dislike towards Rip who she thinks abandoned his responsibility for selfish reasons. She sends a distress call that reaches the Waverider, prompting the team to check it out.
Miranda Colbert: Rip's colleague turned wife. She gives up being a Time Master so that Rip can continue to do so and to allow them to continue their relationship. She is shown to be a better Time Master than Rip.
Time Master Declan: Another one of Rip's mentors who found out about Rip and Miranda's affair. He gives them a fair trial, but ultimately makes the two decide who will remain a Time Master.
John Valor:The leader of the Time Pirates who goes through time taking over different ships. He reveals that Rip was once an infamous Time Master that he was once scared of.
Legends- Everyone was getting a little antsy being on board the Waverider for over a week while Rip fell into a dark place. They went on a new and exciting adventure taking them to space and despite all the craziness, they all got to learn a little bit more about each other. The MVP was definitely Space Ranger Stein who saved everyone from the time pirates. I guess we know now which half of Firestorm has the combat skills. They also had to make a tough choice in regards to Mick betraying the team, but Snart ultimately had the final voice in what was to be done.
Rip, Jax and Mick- Watching the scene between the two where Rip basically called Mick an idiot was pretty harsh. Even though Mick is a criminal, he has feelings too, and Rip hurt every damn one of them. We're guessing that really pushed him over the edge. Jax tried to play peace maker between the two, but it wasn't enough to stop Mick from selling them out.
Rip and Stein- Stein got Rip out of his funk after locking himself in his special room for a week. Seems like the only one Rip has really trusted on the team other than Sara is Stein. He trusted him to watch the jump ship although he was really surprised to see that Stein was more than just a brain. He got the moves too.
Stein and Jax- No one takes Space Ranger Stein's partner and gets away with it. Seeing these two not argue with each other the whole episode was a bit odd, but we kind of like it. You can just see in Jax eyes that he had a new found respect for his other half after he saved them.
Snart and Mick- Who would have thought that one of the most emotional scenes on the show would include these two. Over the course of the last few episodes we saw the tension rising between them. Snart hasn't admitted it yer, but he definitely wants to be a hero and even considers the team his "friends". Mick on the other hand is already too far gone and only wants to watch the world burn. We don't think Snart killed Mick, but we will have to wait to see how he dealt with him next episode.
Ray and Kendra- She used the "I was Barista two months ago and now I'm a winged demigoddess" excuse when she turned Ray down initially, so we thought that ship had sailed. It turns out that when you're on the brink of death, the ladies come around. We are all for the shipping of these two, but her using the "Come back to me" line was meant for Carter not Ray. Hawkman would be turning in his grave hearing that.
Snart and Sara- Snart has definitely been acting more of a team player and since the start, he's always had this connection with Sara. Even though they've butted heads at times, they've come be quite the pair. While they waited for Ray and Kendra to save them from their potential icy deaths, they got to know each other on personal level. They talks about Sara's experience with death as well as Snart's near death which was stopped by Mick. He explains that they had looks after each other ever since.
Rip and Eve- Eve was rude from the get go and didn't make the best first impression. She criticized Rip for betrayed the Time Council, but never really even asked what the reason was until the end. She must have felt pretty ashamed to learn that it was for a noble reason. It was nice of her to give Rip what he needed to upgrade Gideon and find Vandal.
Rip,Miranda and Jonas- We never got to see Rip's wife talk until this episode. It turns out that she was a lot better at being a Time Master than he was, but gave it up for him. Now we know why Rip is trying so hard to stop Vandal. Seeing Rip watching the video log of her and his son Jonas was sad and we hope he is able to succeed.
Rip and Declan- Time Master Druce turned out to a douche, but Declan was pretty cool. I mean he caught both Miranda and Rip having a forbidden Time Master affair, but he wasn't as cold as the rest of the council, he actually gave them a chance to explain themselves.
Vanishing Point- Vanishing Point is a metaphysical dimension that lies outside the normal space/time continuum. It exists during the last possible moment in the universe, the last nanosecond before entropy ends everything. At the center of Vanishing Point is a floating fortress which serves as the base of operations for the Linear Men, a group of volunteers who have taken it upon themselves to police the timestream. On the show it serves a similiar purpose for Rip and the rest of the Time Masters.
Rick Starr- Rick Starr is the millionaire son of Thaddeus Starr, the owner of Allied Solar Enterprises in the 22nd century. Rick became the Space Ranger to protect Earth from criminals and alien invaders. Using his family's money, Rick created a base in the Asteroid Belt. He was often accompanied on his adventures by his girlfriend Myra Mason.
Star Wars Reference- "To quote every Star Wars movie. I have a bad feeling about this"-Jax "I feel like Han Solo."-Ray
Star Trek Reference- "You're no Kirk, you're more like Picaird."- Kendra to Ray
Imperiex- Is the embodiment of entropy. Since the beginning of time, he has repeatedly destroyed the universe to create a new one. Mongul asked Superman to help him fight Imperiex, and they managed to defeat it. However, it transpired that the "Imperiex" they had encountered was the little guy and that Imperiex Prime, leader of the Imperieces, was himself a much larger and more powerful being. He saw imperfections in universe, and his ultimate plan was to destroy it to create a perfect one. Imperiex Prime headed for Earth, the planet which held the universe together, in order to destroy it and induce a new Big Bang.Rip uses the name as a voice command for the Waverider to attack the Akeron while telling the story of Ray surviving Imperiax's onslaught.
Kanja Ro- Is the dictator of the planet Dhor in the Antares star system. In his first appearance he enslaved the Justice League with his Gamma Gong, and used them to battle the other three monarchs by threatening to leave all humanity in a paralyzed state, who would only be released if all three monarchs spoke Kanjor Ro's name at the same time. The League was able to defeat all three monarchs, and also defeated him, imprisoning all four monarchs on a small planet which Green Lantern created a power ring barrier around. This was another voice command he used to hide the Waverider from the time pirates.
What's To Come/Theories:
We think it is safe to say that Mick isn't dead, but he wasn't lying about one of them "walking" out of there alive. If we had to guess, Snart just disabled his friend from making more trouble for the team until they get the mission done. In the previews for the next episode 'Night of the Hawk' our Legends find themselves back on the hunt for Vandal in the 1950's. It's definitely got a Pleasantville vibe to it, but add some freaky looking man bat creatures and the Legends dressed 50's style and you've got another crazy adventure we get to be a part of. We see Jax finally get some action after being turned down by Kendra who is seen dancing around with Ray. She is also seen interacting with Vandal who has another wacky doo. He then conducts some sort of experiment on Jax who's eyes go black, while Snart,Stein and Rip battle the man bat creatures. There's lots to looks forward to!
Legends of Tomorrow's 'Marooned' was action packed throughout as we watched our Legends go into space to duke it out with time pirates. With that we see our team learn more about each other which was a good thing for most, but others, not so much. This show can do no wrong and we are enjoying the ride. This episode gets 9.6 Waveriders out of 10. What did you think about last night's episode? Leave it in the comments below, we'd love to read them!
