Disney's animal-filled animated adventure Zootopia has been making headlines after being met with overwhelmingly positive reviews across the board, and a 98 percent Fresh rating from 121 reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes.

Today, we learned that not only is Zootopia looking to be a huge critical success, but it will also bring in mass commercial triumph for the animation powerhouse.

After last night's opening, Zootopia has already brought in a whopping $1.7 million, beating out Gerard Butler's London Has Fallen ($850,000). Not only that, but it's already breaking records.

Last night Zootopia earned the title of the highest-grossing Thursday-night opener that wasn't an action movie. It also sits atop Disney's impressive catalogue of films as the biggest opening night ahead of Big Hero 6 and Frozen, which made $1.4 million and $1.2 million, respectively.

Now that official projections are in, Variety is tracking Zootopia and suggesting that it could take home as much as $67 million this weekend in 3,827 theaters. This would make Zootopia the largest March opening for an animated feature.

If these predictions are anywhere close to reality, it would put Zootopia far ahead of its competition. The outlet expects London Has Fallen to make $23 million and Tina Fey's comedy Whiskey Tango Foxtrot to pull in less than $8 million.

For whatever reason, Zootopia might have eluded your attention thus far, but it looks like this Disney comedy will be loved by fans, big and small.
