I'm a Fan Theorist. I give ridiculous predictions for movies and TV shows. I'd like to call them "Ridictable Theories"!

Some people say that this new Ghostbusters movie is a remake and some are saying that it is a reboot, but in all honesty... I don't think it is either. And I'll tell you why from viewing the trailer.

It's starts out with the Ghostbuster's theme song playing in the background in a piano tune. It then displays words that say, "30 years ago... four scientist saved New York." Indicating that the story is a continuation from the original movies.

Granted that the trailer later states that, "A new team will answer the call." But I'll go into detail as to why it says that in the trailer later.

It then opens with a familiar scene that we recognize from the first film. The ghost in the library! I remember watching that as a kid and being scared out of my wits, but yet for some reason I kept watching the movie.

What happens in this trailer is a bit different. Instead of the librarian screaming and making them run away from the building. The ghost spews out projectile and the girls just stand there amazed at what they just saw.

We then get another nod from the original by introducing Leslie Jones much like how Ernie Hudson was first introduced and later recruited as a new member of The Ghostbusters!

We then get the origin of their new sweet ride that is a Hearse, which is basically a funeral vehicle. Which fits perfectly for the tone of the movie!

Then we see their first encounters with the paranormal with their cool gadgets!

We learn a little bit about their new villain who is "... creating a device that amplifies paranormal activity." Who is this villain, I wonder? Could it be a re-amped version of Ghozer? Or...

I'll get into detail with the villain later. Don't you worry!

We then get a glimpse of Slimer who then possesses Melissa McCarthy and does an Exorcist move by making her head do a full 180!

Overall the trailer was awesome! I'm super excited for it! After watching it, I then noticed on the IMDb page for the film, that we have some familiar faces in the movie. I saw; Bill Murray, Sigourney Weaver, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts!

This then leads me to believe that this new Ghostbusters movie is in fact the part 3 of the franchise. Here are my reasons why?

1- The 30 Year Wait-

Like I said from the beginning, the quote "30 years ago... four scientist saved New York." Indicates that it is a continuation. Why would a reboot or a remake have this statement at the beginning of the trailer? It 's because this movie is taking place 30 years from the original movie.

2- "A New Team"-

Now why would it say "A new team"? Because it obviously is a "new team", meaning that their was an "old team" AKA the original Ghostbusters.

3- Returning Casts-

Speaking of "the original Ghostbusters", I believe I know why we are having the original cast coming back for round three. And it comes from a quote that Raymond Stantz AKA Dan Akroyd says in the first movie to Ghozer.

"Gozer the Gozerian... good evening. As a duly designated representative of the City, County and State of New York, I order you to cease any and all supernatural activity and return forthwith to your place of origin or to the nearest convenient parallel dimension."

He said "parallel dimension"... Which would mean that the new Ghostbusters movie is not only a continuation, but it is happening in a parallel universe similar to ours, but some of the roles have been swapped. Instead of having men being The Ghostbusters, we have women. Which is an awesome idea by the way!

If this theory is true then that would explain why we are having the older cast members return.

Maybe we'll see them when both of their worlds collide for the struggle of mankind. The struggle will be between them and Ghozer as she tries to rule both universes in the palm of her hand!

What do you think? Is this Ghostbusters Theory Busted... or do I need to call someone else?
