The time is almost upon us for Batman v Superman and that means we're also closer to Suicide Squad. One of the most anticipated parts of the upcoming movie, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. We all are curious to see her transformation from a doctor, to whatever the heck she turns into! Recently, Margot was talking to Hello Giggles and she had these words to say about her outfit in Suicide Squad....
“We tried on every variation of the costume. I cannot emphasize enough how many outfits, and how many variations of the Harley Quinn costume we tried. We tried the court jester costume, we tried the corset and skirt, we tried leather pants, we tried literally every type of costume possible for her. I really love where we ended up. And who knows, maybe in the sequels we’ll go with the court jester one. I think there’s a world of possibilities.”
Imagine a montage with Suicide Squad's director David Ayer giving her the thumbs-up, or thumbs-down (super cute, maybe)! She easily could steal the movie from the boys and this fan certainly hope she does. Ms. Robbie is also very humble when she's talking about her cast mates and I definitely believer her after the release of the last two trailers! She states...
“It’s an ensemble movie, and the ensemble is so strong,”
“Every single cast member is brilliant. Everyone’s character is so good, everyone gets their moment in the film.”
Wait, Let's Talk About The Sequel
DC must be confident with Suicide Squad because plans of a sequel had been swirling around the geeksophere this weekend. I am one of the people that is rooting for the success of Batman v Superman, because I only go see action movies in the theaters. Also, DC has such a rich history not to have displayed on the big screen and this is the perfect time to see those dreams become a reality (who knows what will happen, if Batman v Superman tanks, I hope it doesn't)!
After James Gunn's rant and how he implied that Suicide Squad just copied GotG with Queen's 'Boheiman Rhapsody', and I don't care if he has a point. The news of a sequel shows confidence in this all star villains team-up and this is music to ears of DC fans! Beside Harley's involvement, the next thing everyone is wondering, how much will Jared Leto's Joker appear in the film? He's shown multiple times in the trailer and you have to expect for DC's second biggest character (right behind Batman) that he will be featured enough to satisfy the fan's appetite!
Will She Jump or Be Pushed?
The movie hasn't even came out yet and people are all ready upset with DC for using her New 52 origin, instead of Batman: The Animated Series' one, when she chose to become Harley Quinn because of her love for her Puddin' (Joker)! I totally understand the frustration of taking her choice away and what that could possibly do to her character on screen.
But what happens if she decided to jump into the vat of chemicals herself? If you were paying attention to all of those set photos from Toronto, then you probably think that's when the Joker turns her into Harley Quinn. She's wearing the same blue shirt (he's wearing the same maroon(?) shirt) and that most likely means that people will have a right to be upset at DC for using the lesser origin story.
There's still enough time before Suicide Squad to change a couple of major details to further enhance the quality of the film. You have to think that Warner Brothers is listening very intently on the chatter of the upcoming Suicide Squad. Batman v Superman had nothing but controversy surrounding (unfairly) the film and SS was met with open arms on this past year at Comic-Con! So, do you think there's a chance that they would change what looks like her origin and instead go with more of an empowering message? I can't wait to find out on August 5th, when Suicide Squad hit theaters in the United States!
