We've all heard the rumors by this point that one of our favorite pilots, Poe Dameron, may be a little bit gay. Whether or not this is true, it has led many fans to wildly speculate. Already, tons of fanfictions has been written about this character and his relationship (presumably) with Finn. We don't know if Poe was originally intended to be gay or not but with this idea growing and festering in the minds of fans everywhere, I wouldn't be surprised if by episode 8 they somehow made it true.

The people involved with the making of episode 7 are completely on board with the idea. Oscar Issac who plays Poe Dameron had this to say on Ellen when asked about a potential romance in the movie,

“I think it’s a very subtle romance that’s happening. You know, you just have to look very close. You have to watch it a few times to see the little hints.”

Who knows if he is talking about Finn and Poe but while on the show he seemed to suggest that it could be.

More recently J.J. Abrams, the director of The Force Awakens, had this to say about diversity in the upcoming films,

“I would love it,” he said to The Daily Beast. “To me, the fun of Star Wars is the glory of possibility. So it seems insanely narrow-minded and counterintuitive to say that there wouldn’t be a homosexual character in that world.”

No matter what may come in the future, what's done is done now. So what made so many people believe in this idea that Poe could be gay in the first place? I'll admit I had a hard time coming up with some reasons but I think I've boiled it down to the 5 major reasons people believe he's gay.

1. The Way Poe looks at Finn

I mean come oooooooon! Just look at the heart eyes he gives Finn! Look at the way he bites his lip! Oh yeah, he totally wants it! When's the last time you've seen a dude give another dude that look? I mean seriously, think about it!

2. He's Got the Sassiness Down Pat!

Well, if we're going to theorize about the sexuality of a fictional character then we might as well look at stereotypes. Just look at the way he stands there. He's got his hand on his hip, his chest poked out. If this isn't the sassiest pose in all of the galaxy far far away than I don't know what is. He's even got his butt poking out a bit!

3. The Way He Lept into Finn's Arms after Reuniting

Just watching this gif you can hear the swelling music as the two run towards each other for a big passionate embrace. Sure, one could argue that it's just a bromance but where's the fun in that? Besides, how many times can you attribute something to being just a bromance before it's not anymore?

4. The Hair!

If we're going to delve into the world of fandom mania then we might as well bring up the hair. Now we all know Kylo Ren is known for his famous long locks but have you really noticed Poe's hair? No only is it perfectly quaffed but it blows in the wind with a beautiful majesticness. No matter how long he's had his helmet on, it always looks amazing when he takes it off. Certainly it must have gay powers.

5. He spends a lot of time with the cock.....pit ;)

Episode 7 told us that Poe was the greatest pilot in the galaxy which means that he's spent a lot of time in the cockpit of an X Wing. Now I know what you're thinking. This is a bit of a stretch but think about it. He's spent a lot of time in there pushing buttons, grasping and pulling levers. It's not hard to draw some metaphors.

So what do you guys think? Obviously, this article was satirical but there could be some truth to some of this. I personally would love for him to be gay. I think it would bring some much needed diversity to the galaxy. Tell me what you think below.
