Neve Campbell has always been the beating heart of the Scream cast, and the idea of watching a Scream 5 without her in it makes me a little sad. However, she recently spoke to EW about reprising her role as Sidney Prescott, explaining that, while she would be willing to appear in another movie, she has reservations about making a Scream movie without Wes Craven, who sadly passed away:
“Wes was so responsible for the success of it and the brilliance of it, and he was a dear, dear friend and a mentor, and I just don’t know how I would feel at the moment if it came around again.
It would have to be something really special and really different. They’d have to be really convincing about who they decided to bring on as director, and I’d still have to do a bit of soul-searching on that one.”
Neve Campbell's EW interview takes a more positive tone than her recent Guardian interview where she said of her Scream days:
“I’m so glad those days are over. I felt I was being forced into being something I wasn’t – all the time.”
Would you like to see Scream 5, even without Wes Craven or Neve Campbell?
