In a joyous moment for Kesha's turbulent life, she wiped away tears as she thanked fans for their support over her disagreement with Sony and producer Dr. Luke.

At one point during the speech she was so overcome with emotion she stepped away from the mic, but the cheers of the crowd brought her back. As she began her speech she asked her mom in the audience to stop crying.

The producer of number one song 'Tik Tok' claimed a Visibility Award from the Human Rights Campaign in her hometown of Nashville on Saturday.

Kesha said:

"As many of you know I am going through some personal things that have been really intense and hard lately and I just want to say thank you for the support I have received."

The 29-year-old singer received the award for speaking out against bullying of LGBT youths.

This was her first public appearance since February 19 when a New York judge rejected her application to end her contract with Sony.

She has claimed her producer, Dr. Luke, sexually abused and forced drugs on her. He denies the accusations.
