OOH-OOH-AAH-AHH! The sci-fi mystery drama featuring time travel and killer viruses is back for Season 2. And there still appear to be minimal actual monkeys.

Comicbook released a thrilling new promo yesterday. It reveals how the Syfy series has been shaken up even further: featuring altered relationships and role reversals for heroes and villains.

The creation of Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett is based on a 1995 movie of the same name, itself based on a 1962 short film called La Jetée. The first season premiered almost exactly a year ago on March 12, 2015.

The plot sees time traveler James Cole (Aaron Stopford) turning back the clock from 2043 to the present day in an effort to prevent organization The Army of the Twelve Monkeys from releasing a virus that wipes out 94% of the world's population.

Happy year of the monkey (2016 is actually the Chinese year of the monkey).
