A while back, Square Enix conducted a survey on their own website which asked fans all over the world to answer a very simple question: which JRPG release date are you looking forward to the most in 2016; Final Fantasy 15 or Persona 5? They also asked whether you'd be purchasing both and whether you'd prioritize one over another. Fans were then asked to give short answers explaining why Final Fantasy 15 was picked over Persona 5, or the other way around.

Seeing as Square Enix conducted the survey, you would imagine that their product would have won out. However, after Kotaku reported on the survey and conducted one of their own shortly afterwards, the results were quite surprising.

Persona 5 Release Date vs That Of Final Fantasy 15

Square Enix failed to publish the results of the survey they conducted on their website - perhaps the outcome would have been bad for business. But if you hop on over to Kotaku, you can see that 36,173 people took part in the voting and the division saw Persona 5 emerge as the victor with 19,177 votes to 16,996.

Granted, this poll didn't allow players to pick both of these highly anticipated JRPGS, and chances are if you're looking forward to one of these games the other is going to appeal to you too. But why would Square Enix have conducted a survey like this? They're already well aware that millions around the world are excited for the release date of Final Fantasy 15, so why compare it with Atlus' Persona 5?

The most likely reason is so that Square can appropriately plan the release date for the upcoming Final Fantasy sequel. While we still don't know when Persona 5 will be released either, perhaps Square have the ability to communicate with Atlus in planning of their release strategies. After all, these two enormous games will most certainly be competing with one another and I imagine the news that Persona 5 may be more anticipated than Final Fantasy 15 is something that'll make your company plan more carefully for the future.

Where Do You Stand?
