Everyone's favorite '90s Mel Gibson movie series is back with a remake by Fox, and they have a new star.

It has just been announced that Kevin Rahm, who features in Mad Men as Ted Chaough in Seasons 6 and 7, will take to the guns as a series regular in Lethal Weapon as a policeman named Captain Avery; beginning with a pilot episode.

Avery plays the political game as well as the policeman's. His ex-partner is LAPD detective Roger Murtaugh (Damon Wayans Sr.) who has recently had a heart attack and must avoid stress as a result.

The exciting new series will be produced by Matt Miller and McG (Joseph McGinty Nichol) — this pair are also the writers — and Jennifer Gwartz for Warner Bros. TV and Lin Pictures.

The original epic series saw a total of four movies with the last released in 1998.
