Ever since the incredible Predator in 1987, the mere talk of a sequel had people wondering if Arnold Schwarzenegger would ever return to the franchise. His role as Major Alan "Dutch" Schaefer is still renowned as one of his most iconic performances to this day. Come on, how many times have you uttered "Get to the Choppa!"? Well, you can thank Predator for that. In 1992, Arnold was faced with a choice of franchises to return to: Terminator or Predator. He went with the former and thus, the masterpiece that was Terminator 2: Judgment Day was born. Although we did get some great Predator sequels such as Predator 2 and AVP: Alien vs Predator, fans still wanted to see Arnie back in the lead role.

And ever since the news of Shane Black's Predator film came out, many fans were hoping that we would finally get to see Schwarzenegger's iconic "Dutch" return to do battle with anoher Predator. That would be sweet! Well Arnold himself perhaps shed some light on the most recent developments. In a recent interview with The Arnold Fans, Schwarzenegger admitted “I haven't talked with him [Black] yet but I'm going to meet with him for lunch sometime soon. Just as soon as I'm finished with this [Arnold's Sports Festival] and The Apprentice and all this stuff...But I will get together with him. If there is any news, we'll of course let you know right away.”

Thus, it seems there is still a small amount of hope for a potential return or cameo for the movie legend. The mere possibility of seeing Schwarzenegger would definitely be a treat that many of us would love to see. In the interview, Arnie also confirmed that he has a meeting coming up regarding his highly-anticipated Conan sequel The Legend of Conan/King Conan.

Last month, we were treated when a teaser poster for the film was released, revealing the film's title as The Predator. It was also revealed that Black's film will be a sequel to the original 1987 film and not a reboot/remake. Although there's no evidence to suggest that it will necessarily discount the events of Predator 2 or Predators, it is believed to be a direct sequel to the original. Not long afterwards, Fox set a March 2, 2018 release date for the film.

So here we are with a sequel that will be released 31 years after the original. Arnie may be older but he has proven that he can still kick ass (most recently in Terminator Genisys and Maggie) and it would be amazing to see him do so once more against one of his greatest on-screen adversaries. As a fan of the franchise, I am so excited by the return of the Predator to the big screen and the thought of Arnold Schwarzenegger possibly reprising one of his most Iconic roles would be the icing on a an already perfect cake!

The Predator hits theaters on March 2, 2018! You'll Never See Him Coming!
