After a much lauded first season, the anticipation for Season 2 of Daredevil is reaching boiling point. Three words are all that is needed to explain why fans are counting down the days until the opening episode of the new season: Elekra and Punisher.
Further to yesterday's sneak peek, in the compelling teaser below we get a glimpse at each of the leading vigilantes donning their battle armor. There's not much in terms of content, but there is enough to unleash a monumental swarm of excitement butterflies for fans of the show. Oh, and the outfits are outstanding.
It may only be 30 seconds long, but there's enough jam packed into half a minute to look a little closer:
1. Daredevil: "If I Take A Night Off, People Get Hurt"
Murdock's tenacity and moral obligation to protect Hell's Kitchen is admirable, and often comes at the cost of being beaten half to death. And, bless him, just when he thought the work was done, things are really starting to heat up.
These are interesting times for MM, and it'll be interesting to see how Daredevil (played by Charlie Cox) will fare in the face of a duo of blood thirsty antiheroes who certainly don't share his moral stand-point of not killing bad guys.
2. Elekra: "If You Don't Get What You Want By Day, You Take It By Force, At Night"
We all have a few questionable ex's. Elektra (Élodie Yung) is Daredevil's former lover who got away, for valid reason; in the comics, her murderous and vicious streak was too much for moralistic Murdock.
It's not too much of a stretch to suggest the "force" she mentions in the teaser will include a few crushing bones.
3. Punisher: "I Think That This World Needs Men Who Are Willing To Make The Hard Call"
Frank Castle, a.k.a. Punisher (Jon Bernthal) is almost the antithesis of Daredevil when it comes to vengeance. No one is spared, and the expert marksman won't think twice about exercising a fatal or tortuous solution to his problems.
From the previous trailers and Punisher's segment in this clip, his takes a dim view of Murdock's approach — this will, no doubt, cause the two to clash.
Even More Gritty Than The First?
Showrunner Marco Ramirez has previously stated that this season will be darker than the first, and that the plot will essentially be Daredevil pitting his wits against the Punisher.
Elektra, too, is often regarded as a Marvel fan favorite, although creator Frank Miller, the outspoken comic book artist, has expressed his disappointment that he hasn't received credit for his involvement in the TV series.
'Daredevil' Season 2 will be available to stream from March 18 on Netflix.
Will Daredevil be able to tame the Punisher?
