Jump Street is combining with Men in Black in a superb mash-up, as was confirmed by director James Bobin on Wednesday. Crime fighters Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum will reprise their roles, but it is unfortunately uncertain if Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones of three Men in Black movies will return.
Nevertheless the question is begged - what other iconic duos would we like to see reprised in beautifully bizarre double-pair masterpieces? Here are seven suggestions of dream-team couplings:
7. 'Batman v Superman' v X-Men
If Marvel and DC are each combining their universes then why not merge the two comic book companies together for the ultimate cinematic show-down. Batman and Superman (Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill) against Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Stefan Kapičić and Brianna Hildebrand) from Deadpool would prove an explosive match.
6. 'Fight Club' and 'Rocky'
This union would be heavy in fists, schizophrenia and working class heroes: a surreal bonanza that stretches space and time with the ultimate fight scenes. Rocky Balboa and Mickey Goldmill (Sylvester Stallone and Burgess Meredith) could come up against Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt) and The Narrator (Edward Norton) for several rounds of bare-chested mayhem.
5. 'Toy Story' and 'Shrek'
Imagine the possibilities with colliding Pixar universes! The world might implode. But would Shrek and Donkey (Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy) enter Andy's bedroom as toys or would Buzz and Woody (Tim Allen and Tom Hanks) become fairytale creatures? Both?!

4. 'Pulp Fiction' and 'Lethal Weapon'
With Lethal Weapon remake as a TV series on its way surely it's also time for Martin and Roger (Mel Gibson and Danny Glover) to bump into Vince and Jules (John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson). The LAPD duo could follow the bloody trail left by the trigger-happy gangsters.
3. 'Ghostbusters' and 'The Heat'
While we're bending worlds, why not make Melissa McCarthy as detective Shannon Mullins of Heat meet her twin Abby Yates (also McCarthy) in forthcoming Ghostbusters movie? Fantastic idea! They could tackle a ghost-criminal together, with Sandra Bullock and Kristen Wiig supporting.

2. 'Pirates of the Caribbean' with 'The Titanic'
Why confine dream pairs to action when you can have Rose and Jack (Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio) go head to head with Elizabeth and Will (Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom) in a raunchy maritime action rom-com that defies haters and logic. Foursome ahoy!
1. 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' and 'The Simpsons'
For some retro comedy relief Will Smith and Carlton Banks (Alfonso Ribeiro) could reprise their much-loved roles and cause havoc in Bel-Air with Bart Simpson and Milhouse (Nancy Cartwright and Pamela Hayden).
