The latest horror has struck the forthcoming sequel in the Amityville series, The Awakening: it's has been delayed. NOOO!

The date has been shoved back not a few days, not a couple weeks, but eight months! From April 1 this year to January 6, 2017. One might say the production is haunted mwa-ha-haaa.

The Franck Khalfoun-directed movie was first set to be released in September 2014. Among the causes of delay are re-editing, retitling, and worries about going up against the second box office week of Batman v Superman.

Here's a synopsis:

Belle, her little sister, and her comatose twin brother move into a new house with their single mother Joan in order to save money to help pay for her brother’s expensive healthcare.
But when strange phenomena begin to occur in the house including the miraculous recovery of her brother, Belle begins to suspect her Mother isn’t telling her everything and soon realizes they just moved into the infamous Amityville house

The Awakening will be the 14th installment in the supernatural Amityville series of freaky haunted houses in a nail-biting journey that began with The Amityville Horror in 1979.
