Now, as fans of the Star Wars Expanded Universe - or, y'know, the Internet - will surely know, the legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett's story didn't end in the belly of a Sarlacc back in Return of the Jedi. Sure, we may have seen him fall from a Jabba the Hutt-owned skiff into the maw of the multi-toothed beast, but for as iconic a character as Boba, that was never likely to be the end.

However, since all of the Expanded Universe material that saw Boba survive was rendered entirely non-canonical after Disney's purchase of the Star Wars franchise, that... may not actually be the case any more.

With Boba's original escape from the Sarlacc pit having disappeared from canon, though, that seems to have left an opening for intrepid fan artists to come up with their own visualizations of his survival, including one by a certain DanLuVisi, who has conjured up a world in which...

Boba Fett Had To Cut Off His Own Hand To Escape The Sarlacc Pit

Or, at least, that's what we have to assume happened, seeing as right after...

He Had To Cauterize His Own Bloody Stump

Which would most likely be the most badass image of Boba Fett we'd see today, were it not for this third awesome image of LuVisi's, in which...

Boba Fett Is Wearing A Cloak, And It Is Fantastic

Lando would approve.

The main takeaway from all of that? Boba Fett remains fundamentally awesome - and (if you ask me) would clearly have survived that Sarlacc pit, whether it's canon or not.

Nicely played, DanLuVisi. Nicely played indeed...

What do you think, though?

Do you think Boba Fett survived the Sarlacc pit?
