Welcome back Agents! We all seemed to have survived this S.H.I.E.L.D-less hiatus, but yesterday we got our first episode in 3 months, Bouncing Back, and IT FELT SO GOOD.
So the first minute of this episode starts us off three months from now, in what seems to be space. We see a quinjet just floating around with a S.H.I.E.L.D agent inside. We only have enough time to barely process what we're seeing, before we we're so rudely interrupted by a large explosion. Enjoy a complimentary play-by-play below:
We now cut to the present day, where the local police are getting their first taste of SLINGSHOT (!!!!), who is trying to steal some weapons.
We now see Coulson visiting the scene of Rosalind's death, which happens to be her house. Apparently Roz had some pretty good connections because in walks The President, who is here to discuss the new rise of Inhumans. He wants something done about it. The public is still weary of S.H.I.E.L.D but the President knows that the world still needs them. He wants S.H.I.E.L.D to still do what they do in the shadows and be the ATCU's "black ops response" to the public.
Joey and Daisy are now undercover at the local police station in Bogota, Columbia.
They're here to follow up on a report on a police officer being attacked by a powered assailant. Daisy is ready to start the hunt for this gun thief.
WONDER WHO THAT COULD BE??
Bobbi, Hunter, and Mack are out filing a police report but can't really get much on the case, because all the witnesses believe the attacker was invisible. Hunter then goes off on a rampage about his dreams to become an Inhuman, including taking fish oil pills to try his luck. Sadly, he came up empty handed.
Mack then thinks he might have a lead on this criminal, when all of a sudden she's standing right in front of him!
There she is folks, Slingshot in the flesh! And she doesn't look too happy.
She pulled a "fast" one (ahaha) on Mack and managed to knock him out and kidnap him. This cant be good.
Mack is awake now and finds himself duct taped to a sink. More on that in a minute.
Meanwhile, the rest of the team is viewing the security footage of Slingshot and Mack and now they're going after her.
Coulson pulls Fitz out of the lab, he needs a way to get more information on Malick, so he has an idea.
Back to Mack!
Slingshot AKA Elena comes back to question Mack about why he is in Bogota, but what she doesn't know is that Mack has already freed himself and has been waiting for her to come back so he can kick her right in the gut!!!
But unfortunately she's way faster than him , so Mack now finds himself tied up in a chair :/
We now see an ugly man who looks like he's old enough to get the senior discount at the Hydra Buffet..... OH WAIT, ITS MALICK!!! MY BAD!!!
Anywhooooo, his trusty sidekick Mr. Giyera is back letting Malick know that "HE" is asking for him. What the heck is he talkin' about???
hmmmmm, It seems to be a teenage girl enjoying a slumber party! How cute!!!
"What's wrong sweetie???"
OHHHHHH UMMMM THAT'S DEFINITELY NOT A TEENAGE GIRL!!!! ABORT ABORT ABORT.
This Ward-looking creature is hungry. Its a good thing we have an iron chef in the house!!
Mack is now being questioned once again by Elena who only speaks Spanish btw.
She thinks Mack is with the U.S Military and wants to use those guns to hurt other Inhumans. Mack feels the same way about Elena. She believes her "gifts" are from God, and tries to tell him that she wouldn't use them to commit a sin. Mack tells her these gifts are from the fish she ate for dinner on the night of her terrigenisis. Oh Mack, you surely do know how to burst a bubble!!!
But now Daisy, Bobbi, and Hunter are here and they take her down.
Alright, back to everybody who couldn't be helpful in the field! Coulson decides that Wener Von Strucker has earned himself one way trip to Trauma-Ville via the memory machine! But unfortunately Werner suffered extensive damage to the brain so they couldn't really get anything out of him.
Back to the super villain-slumber party!
They finally got Ward some food
Giyera decides to poke the bear by insinuating that Ward is not really Hive, so Ward promises him that once he's strong enough he would kill him.
And it will probably look something like this:
Back on Zephr One, Daisy, Joey, and Mack are asking Elena what she was going to use those weapons for. She insisted that she and her cousin weren't going to USE them, they just wanted to get them away from people who would.
And what do ya know! We see Elena's cousin literally dumping those weapons into a river as we speak, until he was accosted by Hunter and Bobbi, but before they can question him, a new powered person shows up that has the ability to render a person unconscious just by looking into their eyes. Which is exactly what he did to all three of them.
Mack lets Elena know that they should stop fighting against each other and fight on the same side. She agrees luckily. Daisy wants to know how her powers work, Elena tells her they're connected to her heart. So as fast as she can run in 1 heartbeat is how far she can go before being "slingshotted" back the place she came from.
Daisy, Joey, Mack ,and Elena all break into the building that Hunter and Bobbi are being held at and find a way to get them out. They also capture Sunglass Man while they're there, but Hydra sent a quinjet and they captured this inhuman before S.H.I.E.L.D could get out of the building.
Meanwhile Coulson found a way to get a number that connects straight to Malick's phone, but first is put on hold. Anybody else think of this scene??!
When he finally does reach Malick, Coulson lets him know that he's tracking this phone line everywhere it connects before Malick hangs up on him.
S.H.I.E.L.D wants Elena to stay hoping they will join Daisy's team and help them. But she has a life back in Bogota and she needs to be with her family. Before Elena leaves Mack lets her know that if she needs backup, they'll be there. She also apologizes for kidnapping him.
Pretty much in the first Fitzsimmons scene of the episode, Simmons lets Fitz know that she misses him. She wants to start over, so they introduce themselves again as if they don't know each other.
Coulson has a new hand, this time it actually looks like a hand. Coulson relives his memories from Maveth and tells May he doesn't know what happened to him, he feels different. May says he joined the Cavalry.
In the last scene we see Ward, still being a lazy butt on the couch. Malick tells Ward that he may not be Hive because Coulson is still alive. Ward then proceeds to possibly kill Malick/and or Giyera by shooting out this sand like mixture from his hand. Guess Malick needs to watch his mouth!
In the stinger Coulson is doing a video call with the president from their base. The President wants Coulson to start working with General Talbot again to catch Inhumans. Coulson seems to be okay with this idea, so we'll see what happens.
So that's it for this week! If you're interested in seeing next week's Agents of SHIELD promo, The Inside Man, here it is!
Looks like we're getting a visit from ole' Carl.
