10 Cloverfield Lane (2016) | EARLY (VIDEO) MOVIE REVIEW (Spoiler Free!)

* JVS *

Short Write-Up Review of 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016):

10 Cloverfield Lane is heading to into theaters Friday March 11, 2016! This film had one of the ambitious and secretive release I've ever witnessed. Not but two month prior to this coming Friday release the first and only trailer for this film emerged with the release of 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi. Strangely enough no one had heard any worked of this films creation or inception. Thanks to the careful planning and secrecy of its producers & previous producer of Cloverfield (2008), J.J. Abrams; it was a huge surprise to the film community! And after having the privilege of watching the early screening of this film it is well worth all the efforts because this film truly nails it!

10 Cloverfield Lane is not a direct sequel to the 2008 feature film, it mainly plays around the works of three closed in individuals in a most post apocalyptic situation. Pulling from the veins of films like Room (2015) and Signs (2002), their are very character driven developments that take place in the facility of the character Howard's (played by John Goodman) fall out shelter. The suspense is really well thought out and plays on the paranoia of circumstance from the main character Michelle's (played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead) point of view and the audiences. You don't know why she has been put into this situation, you don't know what the true danger is, nor do you know if there is anything worse to come. That is the beauty of this Science Fiction/Suspense epic, because you truly are just pulled in for this ride that will keep you on you toes, wanting to trust other characters such as Emmett (played by John Gallagher Jr.) and fearful of what is inside this fall out shelter as much as what could be outside. All three actors feel really well flushed out, and this film takes its time in developing them to make you want to care what happens to them and even take sides as to who is right. This is a stand out performance form John Goodman...

The other great thing this movie does is take full advantage of the sound mixing and sound effects, seeing this in IMAX is the best way to go, from the quite moments to even more action driven moments you are continuous immersed into the great sound that feels not only real but makes you feel the goosebumps as if you are in the film with these three characters. As well as the cinematography was really well shot and polished as well, they take advantage of the location of this underground bunker and house above it allowing you to truly breathe this word and the characters surroundings in a way that most films push to take the time to do. I found 10 Cloverfield Lane to be a great time at the movies, will be highly recommending to friends & family, it pays respect to the Suspense and Horror/Sci-Fi genres simultaneously. For a movie that didn't have much the way of early advertisements, its inception having so much secrecy, and yet takes full advantage its amazing actors and the world on which it has built around it cinematically, I have to give 10 Cloverfield Lane a 9.2 out of 10.

Waking up from a car accident, a young woman finds herself in the basement of a man who says he's saved her life from a chemical attack that has left the outside uninhabitable.
