French filmmakers and lovers of all things disturbing, Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, made their mark with Inside, their 2007 horror with possibly the most disturbing ending ever.
What you may not have known is that Maury & Bustillo were slated to direct a Nightmare On Elm Street reboot. How freakin' cool would that have been? What's more, they had some seriously interesting plans for the project, which they described to Bloody Disgusting:
“Our idea of a good remake is to have a new vision on the same thematics. Here it was to really use the fact that Krueger is a child molester. So the idea was to have a twisted version of The Goonies with a bunch of kids being stalked. We thought it would have been great for a remake to switch the teenagers of the original with real kids. Besides, childhood is the moment in life when you are truly and deeply frightened by nightmares, when you’re not able to see the difference between reality and dreams…”
I don't know about you guys, but I can't think of a cooler angle or team to create a new Nightmare On Elm Street. Let's hope this idea makes it off the cutting room floor... Still, you'll be seeing Maury & Bustillo's take on another classic soon: their Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel, Leatherface, is released later in 2016.
What would you like to see in a new 'Nightmare on Elm Street'?
