Tobey Maguire & Andrew Garfield both did tremendous jobs (in my opinion) donning the webs & suits of SPIDER-MAN but after a failed reboot, the studio(s) decided to change things up yet again and cast Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man to appear in the highly anticipated "Captain America: Civil War," then to attempt a second reboot for the character.

That's not what this article is about. I watched the 2nd trailer for CIVIL WAR today, and I was excited as everyone else to see just a GLIMPSE of the web-slinger, who (temporarily, come on) steals Captain America's shield from him & shoots some web to bind his hands together. THAT'S a great start, and rather humorous.

But then.. we see Spidey. And his suit.. looks like something that perhaps Wolverine brought from the '70s OR it's completely CG because it almost looks animated. With all of the advanced, even modern tech our Avengers have, you'd think Tony would at least have made some modifications to his suit- even just for fashion reasons?! The "Hey Everyone!" line didn't bother me. I think it's safe to say the Spider does side with but who knows how involved he'll be with the overall war.

The eye (face mask eye-cover pieces) shrink-tech was interesting, that sure caught me off guard. But it's not enough to make up for the lackluster appearance of the much-beloved (and rebooted) Spider-Man. It doesn't even fit the trailer, it's as if a fan got ahold of the trailer BEFORE it was published online, and inserted themselves into it dressed up in their grandfather's Spidey costume from way back when.

There's bearly even a belt/utility piece on the suit, or are those pieces just a part of the suit? Plus, the Spider on his chest. Could they make it any smaller? don't get me wrong, this would look awesome / even expected from a fan-film but with all the tech our teams have, Spidey seems to be stuck in a timewarp. You know you need to change your look when even Steve Rogers refers to it as "outdated. And believe me, I KNOW old."

I have no doubt we'll cheer for this Spider-Man, I'm just hoping the effects for his overall look aren't complete as of yet, and this is REALLY just a teaser for what he's going to look like. I say, step it up a notch or fifty. Show us something cool, yet simple. Something advanced, but not as bulky as the War Machine. Let's hope the third time is the charm for the web-slinger, I don't know how many more reboots I can sit through after this one!
