Robert Englund could win 11 Oscars, become James Bond and star as Batman in a new trilogy of movies, but he would still forever be linked to his career-defining role of nightmare-infiltrating murderer Freddy Krueger.
Englund is a beacon of top-quality horror following his A Nightmare On Elm Street days, so any project he is involved in is bound to be worthwhile. The word on the street, according to The Wrap, is that the 68-year-old actor will be starring in The Midnight Man.
The film will be directed by Travis Zariwny, who is best known for directing the Cabin Fever remake, while Insidious actress Lin Shaye, who starred with Englund in 2001 Maniacs (2005), will also feature.
Their Worst Fears Realized
But what on Earth is this movie all about? The Wrap article provides the following synopsis:
“'Midnight Man' is based on the old Pagan ritual 'The Midnight Game'. Gabrielle Haugh stars as a girl who plays a game with her friends that summons a creature known as The Midnight Man who uses their worst fears against them."
Grayson Gabriel, Summer Howell, Keenan Lehmann, Meredith Rose, Michael Sirow and Kyle Strauts are also set to star.
Production is currently underway, although there has been no word of a release date as of yet.
