Beetlejuice was released in 1988 and had the idea of creating a second one which would have been a huge success such as the first one did. The film was created on a $15 million dollar budget which seems like a lot, but in North America alone they grossed in about $73 million dollars. Which was enough for a sequel to come shortly after. Waiting for almost 30 years for another Beetlejuice to resurface we now we don't have much longer to wait.
What We Know So Far
Tim Burton is going to be our director for the movie, maybe that was a given but you know how directors are they run with ideas in other movies and ruin that whole story. I am so pleased that Burton will be the only producer, I feel he's the only one who can portray the story of Beetlejuice accurately. It has been confirmed by Burton himself, that the story is written, cast, and ready to start filming.
The Cast for Beetlejuice 2
Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder have both said agreed to the parts in Beetlejuice 2! I wasn't so surprised that Keaton would take the part considering his past relationship with Tim Burton such as being Batman in Batman Returns. Ryder on the other hand, I haven't seen her in many films recently so I was very pleased that she said 'yes' to the part of Lydia. Watch Ryder talk a little about her part on 'Late Night with Seth Myers.'
The question that keeps me going about this film is will they bring in a wacky Johnny Depp and Tim Burton's wife Helena Bonham Carter. In the oringal Beetlejuice movie there were a lot of big names in the film such as; Alec Balewin, Catherine O'Hara and Jefferey Jones. Most of Burton's recent movies have involved both Depp and Carter, I'll be interested to see what happens next.
I think this movie is gonna be even better than the oringinal, Tim Burton has such an amazing outlook on things and with the technology now days he can REALLY get to the point of what he's trying to achieve!
