Star Wars fans are counting down the days until Episode VIII hits theaters this December. But luckily, writer/director Rian Johnson isn't keeping this film as hush-hush as The Force Awakens. Nope, he's being much more open with the production process than J.J. Abrams was.

A month has already flown by since principal photography began, and Johnson is just as shocked as we are:

Cinematographer Steve Yedlin.

Hard to believe we’re wrapping up week four already, it’s just flying by

If you care to keep with the updates, Rian's Twitter and Tumblr are very fan-oriented, as he enjoys interacting with Star Wars devotees, the press and even his colleagues who work in the business.

Of course, Johnson knows better than to ruin the fun with spoilers or any information that is too big, but a good gander to get us hyped and pacify our Star Wars cravings is always a plus in our books.

Star Wars: Episode VIII will release in theaters December 15, 2017.
