The internet has been an interesting place the past few days. After a report surfaced stating Tim Burton had confirmed the sequel to Beetlejuice was indeed happening, his rep has now said the report is false. In other words, we said Beetlejuice one too many times and he's gone away once again.
The report initially stated that Burton confirmed the script for Beetlejuice 2 was completed, the studio gave the green light, and that original cast members Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton were both returning. Burton's rep has now set the record straight and said the story was fabricated and misunderstood from an interview he did with Entertainment Weekly. The interview in question contains Burton stating Beetlejuice 2 was not in development at this time.
Instead of working on bringing our favorite bio-exorcist back, Burton is hard at work to complete his upcoming film, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, which is set for a September 30, 2016 release. After Miss Peregrine is done with, he is set to re-team with Disney for the studio's latest live-action adaptation, Dumbo.
Sorry guys, but this was just another internet rumor.
