Well it looks like the ratings gods are shining on The CW, today announcing that it has renewed a staggering 11 shows.
Nerds rejoice, it is a great day for superhero fans as The CW confirms it commitment to the DC comic universe. The Flash and Arrow are amongst the renewed shows, so it looks like Barry Allen will live to run another day and Oliver Quinn will get to keep on shooting those arrows.
Vampire Diaries will be back for a eighth season, whilst Supernatural will enter its twelfth. Fans of apoco-kiddy drama The 100 will also be relieved to hear it will return for a fourth run.
The CW amazingly has picked up its entire slate, and Supernatural's twelfth season will put it in the history books as CW's longest running show ever (topping 7th Heaven's 11 seasons).
CW president Mark Pedowitza said:
The CW has become home to some of the most critically-acclaimed shows on broadcast television, with a wide array of fantastic scripted series across the week, ranging from musical comedy, to superhero action, to gritty sci-fi dramas.
As we continue to further our strategy of more year-round original programming, picking up these 11 series for the 2016-2017 season puts us in a great position of having proven, high-quality shows to launch in the fall as well as midseason and summer of 2017.
Great news all round, especially for The Vampire Diaries, whose rumours of ending have been rumbling for the past two years. Meanwhile The CW's comic book universe continues to grow; later this month we will also be treated to a rare multi-networK crossover when The Flash will be popping up in CBS's Supergirl.
