Where do we start with Jim Carrey and his amazing performances? He's well-known for his ability to make light of almost all situations, from having a shotgun in his face to being a lawyer who loses the ability to lie. Carrey has always been my favorite comedian. He has never let his audience down, with his charismatic actions and high energy. These are my personal favorite of Jim Carrey roles, I liked his performances in not only comedies, but his serious roles have been amazing as well.

5. 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind'

Released in 2004, I had never heard of this movie until a friend of mine recommended it. It is extremely underrated, starring both Jim Carrey (Joel) and Kate Winslet (Clementine). Joel and Clementine enter a relationship and things went south. In the time the movie is set, they can have a procedure done to erase their memories of each other. While their memories are being erased, they begin to see the true meaning of their relationship.

4. 'Batman Forever'

The one and only true Riddler - it'd be hard for someone to go up against Carrey's performance, much like someone trying to outshine Heath Ledgers Joker. In the movie Batman Forever there were so many big names such as Val Kilmer (Batman), Nicole Kidman (Dr. Chase Meridian) and Tommy Lee Jones (Harvey Dent). Though there are a lot of well-known actors in this film, it's hard to deny that Jim Carrey's interpretation of The Riddler stuck out the most!

3. 'The Number 23'

When this movie first came out, a lot of people talked badly about it. Myself on the other hand, loved this movie. I loved that story and I really enjoyed seeing my favorite comedian go into a much more serious role. Jim Carrey plays Walter Sparrow, gets a novel from his wife as a gift. Walter becomes obsessed with the novel, seeing similarities of his life unravel between the pages, and begins to wonder if the story is based around his life.

2. 'Yes Man'

There are many people in the world who let themselves get in the way of having fun, such as the character Carl. This is a man who says 'no' to absolutely everything. When he goes to a seminar his life changes forever. The seminar is about saying 'yes' to every opportunity. Carl starts living his life to the fullest, as well as finding himself in plenty of awkward predicaments. This is a must see if you haven't seen it already, you'll laugh so hard your sides will hurt.

1. Liar Liar

Being a lawyer, you always have to think on your feet to win a case, bring in different materials and twist the truth to gain leverage. Fletcher Reede is a lawyer who has lied one too many times, so his son Max makes a wish, so that his father can't lie for 24 hours. This makes things complicated (to say the least) at work, as Reede tries different little tests to see if he can lie. This is by far my favorite movie starring Jim Carrey because he just runs with this character and you will want to watch it over and over again.

I know that Jim Carrey is a huge name and has done such an amazing job in multiple other films, but these are the ones that came to mind first as his best performances. I will forever be a fan Jim, I hope you know the inspiration you have been in my life!
