There is a flash forward three months in the beginning of a bloodied inside of a space ship. In the present, Daisy, Mack, Bobbi, Hunter, and Joey arrive in Bogota to investigate an Inhuman who is stealing weapons from the police. The woman, Elena Rodriguez kidnaps Mack, but is ultimately apprehended by Daisy, Hunter and Bobbi, despite her super speed(with the limitation of returning to where she began moving from after each heartbeat). With Joey's help translating, Elena tells the team that she was destroying the weapons to prevent their misuse by the corrupt police officers. With the help of Fitz, Jemma, Licoln and May,Coulson uses the machine that restored his memories on Werner, who is in a vegetative state after being beaten by Malick's men. He discovers where he contacted Malick. The police kidnap Morse and Hunter after killing Elena's cousin, using their own Inhuman, who can temporarily petrify anyone using eye contact. After seeing her cousin's body, Elena helps S.H.I.E.L.D. in rescuing them. After a brief fight the team is able to incapacitate most of the officers mostly due to Elena. While they are preparing to transport the other Inhuman, heis captured by Hydra, Elena agrees to join the Secret Warriors; she remains in Colombia, on call. Coulson uses the phone at the location to call Malick and expose all his facilities. This causes Malign to sell all of them. Ellis informs Coulson that the new head of the ATCU will be Glenn Talbot, who will report directly to Coulson. Malick tries to help Hive regain it's strength as Grant's body was dead once he inhabited it. After feeding on raw meat, he attacks both Malick and Giyera.
While we didn't get to see the human side of the team kicking as much ass as they usually do, we did get to see Daisy back at it, Elena moving at superspeeds and Joey using his abilities a lot more. Check out these notable scenes.
The Hive-An Inhuman who can inhabit the bodies of the dead and acquire their memories. Created thousands of years ago, it was banished from Earth to another planet, Maveth, in fear of its power. Hydra was founded in ancient times to attempt bringing it back, and sent it several sacrifices over the millennia, most recently a NASA team led by Will Daniels. The Hive killed and possessed these sacrifices, and also wiped out the civilization which used to live on Maveth. The Hive took over Ward's body after he was killed by Coulson and it's host Will was killed by Fitz. He followed them to earth.
Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez/Slingshot: She can run at superhuman speed, and bounce back to the point where she began running. The team initially believe her to be a criminal when in fact she was stealing the local polices weapons as they were corrupt. She is a new recruit of Daisy's Secret Warriors, but she decides to stay in Columian, on call.
Lucio -An Inhuman, who worked with the National Police of Colombia. Lucio has the ability to trap people in a rigor mortis-like state by staring at them, however as he was unable to control the power he was forced to wear sunglasses at all times. He was later abducted by HYDRA.
Team Coulson- Coulson, May, Jemma, Fitz, and Lincoln were left back at the Playground to find out more about Malick's whereabouts and how to take him down. To do this they had to get into little Von Strucker's brain by sending him to T.A.H.I.T.I., you know "a magical place".
Team Daisy- Daisy, Mack, Hunter, Bobbi and Joey had a little more fun in Bogota. They took down corrupt cops, one of which was an Inhuman and met a woman who could move at super speeds who would later join the Secret Warriors.
Coulson and May- Every since Rosalind's death and his return from Maveth, he's been a bit on edge. May seems to be the one to pull him out of his funk every time he gets like this. Even the new prosthetic hand Fitz gave him didn't get him to crack a smile.
Coulson and Ellison- So Ellison wants Coulson and S.H.E.I.L.D. to do all the dirty work, but give the credit to ATCU. We get why he is so annoyed these days. Sure the president thanked him for all the work they had done, but learning that they would have to stay a secret must have sucked.
Coulson and Fitz- Every since they both came back from Maveth, they have both been pretty shaken by the whole ordeal. Coulson tried to tell Fitz that he did what had to be done and that he shouldn't regret anything he had done that day.
Mack and Elena- She didn't make the greatest first impression on him, but it turns out that they had a lot more in common than they thought. He ends up giving her a communication device after recruiting her and tells her that they will be in touch.
Mack and Daisy- Daisy liked that Mack was starting to see the better in Inhumans instead of constantly thinking they would all be bad guys. He definitely did not want to admit it though.
Daisy and Lincoln- The only stable couple on this show. Everything seems to be okay as of now. With all the problems from the first half mostly dealt wit, she gave him a choice to go and live a normal life, but he decided to stay. Awww.
Daisy and Joey- Daisy did a good job helping Joey get used to being out in the field with the team. After all the baddies were stopped and their mission complete, she let him go and be with his family. Hopefully he doesn't go to far, the team definitely needs him around.
Joey and Elena- Joey really came through for the team this episode. After helping them find out from Elena that the police were the real bad guys they were able to stop them. He tried to convince her to come along with the team as she had a greater purpose, but ultimately she decided to stay.
Jemma and Fitz- There is absolutely no reason these two can't be together. They are just being weird and making thing complicated for no reason. Fitz kept blaming himself for not being able to save Will, or what was left of him. Jemma told him that it wasn't his fault and that she missed how they were. At the end they decided to start over and it was adorable.
Hunter and Bobbi- They were just really funny this episode. They ended up in a pretty bad situation, but neither cracked when being questioned by the bad guys and still managed to crack a few jokes.
Jemma and Lincoln- Looks like Jemma's got a new lab buddy and it seemed to annoy Fitz a little bit. He helped her understand more about Inhumans and how each individual had unique powers that came from a response to a situation.
Malick,Giyera and Hive- We thought that Malick was creepy, but he had nothing on Hive. The Inhuman, inhabiting Grant's body, only muttered a few words this episode, but it was unsettling. He was hunger and proceeded to eat raw meats courtesy of Hydra. He was freaking Malick and Giyera out and that says a lot. We're not too sure if everyone is going to make it out of that room alive as he went to show them his abilities. Yuck.
What's To Come/Theories:
Crusher Creel returns in next weeks episode and it looks like he could be going down for the count after clashing with Lincoln. With Hydra having their hands on Lucio, the Inhuman Daisy and the team tried to bring in, S.H.I.E.L.D may be looking at a huge problem. We've also got William Talbot returning so we're sure to have some conflict with him having to report to Coulson. Of all the people they choose this guy to be the head of the ATCU. Will Hive be using Grant's body the whole time or will he find a new suitable host. It would be sad to see Grant go, but then again he's not Grant anymore. What we do hope they do is some sort of tie in with Civil War at some point.
This episode was more to ease us into what's to come for the rest of the season. We finally get another addition to the Secret Warriors and we have yet to see what Hive is planning to do. There was enough action and a decent story to start us off with. This episode gets 8.9 agents out of 10. What did you guys think about "Bouncing Back"? Leave it in the comments below, we'd love to read them!
