Despite the involvement of horror auteur Eli Roth and the aptitude of Peter Stormare in a leading role, Clown slipped under the radar for many, with only a limited release last year.

The film was initially spawned from a fake trailer by Jon Watts, about a man who unknowingly dons an evil clown costume that transforms him from a family man into — wait for it — a clown that eats children. I know, disgusting isn't it.

'A Hellish Nightmare'

Perhaps unsurprising, considering Roth's calibre, the film has received glowing reviews, and the titular murderous character makes even Pennywise look friendly. Feast your eyes on the official synopsis below:

What starts as a joke quickly turns into a hellish nightmare. Kent can feel himself changing, and his desperate attempts to free himself just leave him in agonizing pain.
As the suit takes hold of his body, Kent slowly endures a brutal transformation. As he changes, an uncontrollable hunger begins to consume him, an overwhelming and insatiable hunger… for children.

As well as Stormare and Roth (who also has an acting role in the film) the cast is made up of Laura Allen, Christian Distefano, Elizabeth Whitmere, Matthew Stefiuk, and Andy Powers.

The good news is the film will be available to stream on on Walmart's VOD service, VUDU, from March 18, bringing the messed up tale to the viewing pleasure of new audiences. As of yet, there has been no word on whether it'll be available elsewhere.
