One of the few auteurs within the world of video game production has created a new studio and is in the process of making a new game to back it up. Hideo Kojima has been a part of the gaming world since 1986. He's arguably created some of the greatest games of all time and brought one of the most recognizable gaming figures to life.

His achievements and contribution to this art form are well regarded, which was probably why we were all so furious over what happened with Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Kojima's relationship with Konami. Now however, Kojima has moved on, created an independent studio — with the familiar title of Kojima Productions — and is partnering up with Sony to create the first title in a new franchise that will be a PS4 exclusive.

Is Kojima Working On Another Stealth Game After 'Metal Gear Solid'?

Though Kojima has been a producer on smaller projects, like Gaitame Baibai Trainer: Kabutore FX on the Nintendo 3DS, he's known for his visionary skills as a director on the Metal Gear franchise. For years his mastery has defined stealth in video games. Perhaps — even for all its faults — Metal Gear Solid V has the greatest stealth gameplay of all time.

So is this man going to continue to innovate in the stealth genre? Or will he be developing something completely new now that his ties with Metal Gear Solid have been completely broken? We're not entirely sure. So let's see what he's said about this new Playstation 4 exclusive so far.

The game will be "something completely new" according to a Q&A session that Kojima held in February. That said, it might have a familiar look: Yoji Shinkawa, lead artist and illustrator for Metal Gear and the Zone Of The Enders series, is on board with the new Kojima Productions. Kojima stated that the game will have similarities with his past work:

"I want to do something that gives a lot of freedom and interactivity. Like I did in the past, I want to make something that has a very strong, dramatic story.
"Sony is supporting us to make a big game that’s edgy with a strong story that gives the player a lot of freedom, with new elements, and I don’t know if that’s possible. But we’ll see."

Aside from that, Kojima also stated that the game was free to expand into uncharted territory:

"I want to make something that will have a big enough impact to become a series.
"This impact can lead into something outside of games, such as anime, manga, figures; something that is rich enough to expand."

Exciting! But what do you guys want from Kojima? Do you want the master of stealth to continue with this genre? Or perhaps branch out into something new? Let us know in the comments below!
