Now when it comes to making millions of comic book fans the world over incredibly happy, there aren't too many better ways to do that than releasing a shiny new trailer for a hugely anticipated movie, and then throwing in an iconic, previously unrevealed character for good measure.
Sure, you could probably buy us all tickets to opening night, but short of that, a Captain America: Civil War trailer featuring Spider-Man really is right up there. I mean, it's Spider-Man. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe. What's not to get completely overexcited about?
As it turns out, though, there was one particular trick that Marvel Studios did actually miss. Y'see, back in the comic book Civil War, Spidey didn't actually start off wearing an old-school Spider suit like the one we saw in the trailer. Instead, he began the conflict wearing an Iron Man-designed red-and-gold outfit, dubbed the "Iron Spider" suit, which looked a little something like this:
Fitted with a whole heap of Tony Stark-designed gadgets — and a special set of extendable spider legs, the costume didn't stick around in the comic books for too long — for very specific plot reasons that we won't get into here — but was a real, albeit controversial, fan favorite while it lasted.
And yet, with Spidey and his old-school suit having only just been introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the chances of us seeing the variant suit on screen seem extremely slim.
Thanks to an intrepid (and as-yet anonymous) Imgur-er, though...
We Finally Know What the Iron Spider Suit Would Look Like in 'Captain America: Civil War'
The answer? Well, somewhat predictably, that'd be "ridiculously awesome."
And now I kind of feel the need to watch the trailer again:
What do you think, though?
Which Spidey suit would you have liked to have seen in 'Captain America: Civil War'?
