Director Garry Marshall says it's happening, and Anne Hathaway is 100 percent on board!
Disney's Princess Diaries shot Anne Hathaway to superstardom in the early 2000s when she played the painfully awkward teen Mia Thermopolis, who, unbeknownst her, was of royal blood. The film became an instant Disney live-action classic and spawned a sequel starring Chris Pine as Mia's devilishly handsome beau. Fans have long hoped for a third installment of the feel-good films, and it now looks like all their royal dreams are soon to come true!
Previously, Princess Diaries director Garry Marshall shut down rumors about a Princess Diaries 3, but he has now confirmed that it is in fact happening. People caught up with Garry to get the royal scoop:
"I was with Anne Hathaway a couple weeks ago, it looks like we want to do 'Princess Diaries 3' in Manhattan. Anne Hathaway is very pregnant, so we have to wait until she has the baby and then I think we're going to do it."
Marshall also commented on the possibility of Mia's Princess Diaries 2 love interest, Chris Pine, returning.
"Maybe... He's quite big now, you know."
Is this real life? Anne is to return and we might even get Chris Pine? Heavens! All we have to do now is wait for mini Princess Mia to make her debut and then it sounds like Garry plans to start filming. Now, someone get Julie Andrews on the phone. It just wouldn't be the same without her, would it?
And what about Hector, too?
All in all, it's looking good, and if Anne is involved, I have high hopes we could see more of our favorite cast members come back too, even Mandy Moore!
