Freeform (Formerly ABC Family) announced over a live Q&A chat on their Facebook earlier yesterday that they renewed supernatural-fantasy series Shadowhunters for yet another season.
Back in January the TV series brought in 2.9 million viewers on it's premiere. Freeform stated that Shadowhunters is their second-best series to air on record among adults under 50, collect 1.6 million views. The TV series is also the Freeform's best premiere among men under 50.
The series is based off of Cassandra Clare best-selling young adult book series The Mortal Instruments. Before Freeform had adapted the novels, Constantin Film put out the first ever adaption to the book series in early 2013, The Mortal Instruments (movie). The film only pulled in $90,565,421 worldwide in box office and many fans did not take to kindly to the well the adaption was executed so, plans for the sequel were thrown out.
The shows stars Katherine McNamara as Clary fray, a normal teenager living in Brooklyn with her mother, who figures out on her 18th birthday, that she's not just a regular teenage but a descended from a line of Shadowhunters, little does she know that her journey will get harder from here. Staring along side her our Dominic Sherwood, Matthew Daddario, Alberto Rosende, Emeraude Toubia, Isaiah Mustafa, Harry Shun Jr. and Alan Van Sprang. How much are you loving this cast? I know it a lot!
