For anyone age around 20 plus, TEENick was the golden age of television, and will forever be held in high regard. Nickelodeon was a staple part of weekend and after school viewing, with gems such as Clarissa Explains It All and Are You Afraid Of The Dark.

Little did you know, many of the actors who starred way back when have gone on to find huge success in the years following.

Here are some of the big hitters who you (probably) didn't realize starred on the Nickelodeon offshoot, TEENick:

1. Jessica Alba - 'The Secret World Of Alex Mack'

Year of appearance: 1994

Age then: 13

Age now: 34

Alba is now a household name within Hollywood elite, but long before featuring in films such as Sin City (2005) and Fantastic Four (2005), the actress started her career on TEENick.

She appeared in three episodes of the popular teen drama as Jessica.

2. Vanessa Hudgens - 'Drake & Josh'

Year of appearance: 2006

Age then: 18

Age now: 27

In the same year she starred in the show that would ultimately make her a mega star, Hudgens featured in one episode of the hit sitcom Little Sibling, as Drake's love interest.

3. Elisha Cuthbert - 'Are You Afraid Of The Dark'

Year of appearance: 1996

Age then: 14

Age now: 33

The actress is now known for TV roles such as Kim Bauer in 24, Alex Kerkovichas in Happy Endings, as well as films such as The Girl Next Door (2004) and Captivity (2007). Yet it all began on TEENick's hit horror show, where she first starred as an extra, and then as a main member of the cast (Megan) in the 1999 reboot.

4. Hayden Christensen - 'Are You Afraid Of The Dark'

Year of appearance: 1999

Age then: 18

Age now: 34

The Star Wars actor appeared in one episode of the rebooted series as Kirk, a skier looking for a lost friend who, unfortunately, encounters a life-sucking demon. Not great.

5. Paul Rudd - 'Clueless'

Year of appearance: 1996

Age then: 26

Age now: 46

Paul Rudd is now firmly cemented as one of Hollywood's funny men, thanks to appearing in the generation "Bromance" movies such as Knocked Up (2007), I Love You Man (2009) and Anchorman (2004).

Way back when, Rudd also appeared in the TV spin-off of the popular film (which he also appeared in) for one episode.

6. Keke Palmer - 'True Jackson, VP'

Year of appearance: 2008

Age then: 15
Age now: 22

The star of the popular show, which was screened in front of a life audience. Palmer has maintained her successful television career, appearing in series such as 90210, Masters Of Sex, Scream Queens and most recently the TV movie Grease Live!.

7. John Cena - 'True Jackson, VP'

Year of appearance: 2010

Age then: 32

Age now: 38

Yup, even the colossal WWE wrestler made an appearance on True Jackson, VP, playing himself in an episode where the gang attend a preview screening of one of his movies.

Away from the wrestling canvas, Cena has frequently acted, most notably in recent times starring in the comedy Trainwreck in 2015.

8. James Van Der Beek - 'Clarissa Explains It All'

Year of appearance: 1993

Age then: 16

Age now: 39

Five years before playing the leading role in Dawson's Creek, Van Der Beek played a love interest of Clarissa (Melissa Joan Hart) in a one-off episode.

Following on from a successful spell in the late '90s to early 2000s, the actor now appears in a leading role on CSI: Cyber.
