Supergirl visits Cat, who tells her that there is still hope for her to gain the city's trust back.
Everything about this episode was amazing. The fight sequences this episode were probably the best this show has done and the last fifteen minutes were nothing short of epic. Check out these notable scenes.
Red K Kara: We kind of like it when heroes take a dive into the dark side. If you guys have ever watched Smallville, Clark on Red K was always enjoyable to watch and here Melissa Benoist did a total 180 from the Kara we were used to. She played the bad girl very well and everything was pretty cool up until she started using peanuts as bullets, hurting people's feelings and destroying the city.
K'Hund: We didn't a specific name for this being, but they are a species in the DC Comics known for their extreme violence. He reminded us of the Terminator with it's cyborg eye and it's similar physique. He was strong, but was nothing compared to Kara.
Team Supergirl-The most dangerous villain the team had to face this week was Supergirl herself. As much as we love seeing the bad side of Kara, it turns out that side is pretty terrifying. Nobody on the team had a chance in stopping her except the Last Son of Mars, but that was a last resort. They will have to do some team building exercises after this episode.
Kara and Alex- Alex got hit the hardest this episode. Physically and verbally. Even though Kara said she didn't mean any of what she said, calling Alex pathetic and jealous, there was some truth to it. All their scenes with Kara on Red K and her coming out of it got the tears streaming. There is really no one to blame here, but the damage that was done between the two, well, it will be hard to come back from it.
Kara and J'onn- At the end, J'onn must have been thinking," Red K is a real bitch." While on Red K, she nearly gave up J'onn secret a couple of times and in the end, she kind of succeeded. We know she didn't mean it, but it messed everything up. J'onn is now in the running with Joe West for dad of the year. He risked people knowing his true identity to protect her and Alex.
Kara and Winn- So she found out about him and Siobhan and it was hilarious. That was the only comic relief we got this episode before things started getting serious. He knew before everybody else that there was something wrong with her after catching her getting out of Cat's elevator.
Kara and Jimmy- After telling her that he and Lucy were over, he awkwardly brought up that it didn't have anything to do with her. He wasn't too found of her man handling him while she was under Red K and immediate rejected her advances towards him.At the end they aren't okay even though Kara was about to tell him how she really felt.
Kara and Cat- Kara and Cat are alright, but not Supergirl and Cat. She was impressed with Kara's new attitude, but Supergirl just terrified her. I mean if someone threw me off a building I would probably stay clear of them. Forever. At the end she seemed to forgive Supergirl and was her unexpected shoulder to cry on.
Kara and Siobhan-Kara won the battle for good. It was pretty harsh, but Siobhan definitely had it coming and she caught Kara on a Red K day. Kara out shined her as Cat's assistant and then got her fired. This is probably what is going to push her to becoming Silver Banshee, the only question is how she will.
Winn and Siobhan- Get it Winn. Get it! Looks like the nerd does get the girl after all and even though she's Kara's rival we're happy for the guy. This will be short lived though as she is set to turn into a homicidal super villain. Then again he didn't exactly stick up for her when Kara put the verbal beat down on her after she was fired.
J'onn and Crane- Martian Manhunter has found a lady friend on earth! Get it J'onn. Get it. It was obvious from moment you see them together that she had the hots for him. It was funny seeing Kara and Alex react to the two touching hands. That trust between J'onn and Crane was broken after finding out about his true appearance and that the real Hank was dead. Hopefully she sees him as the great big, green superhero she really is soon.
Siobhan and Cat- Cat really showed how devoted she was to keeping Supergirl's name clean. When Siobhan came to her with a video showing Supergirl letting a bad guy go, she told her to drop it. Then she found out that she tried to sell the story to the Daily Planet and fired her on the spot.
Red Kryptonite- This version was created by Maxwell Lord to potentially kill Non and the other Kryptonians. In the comics Batman had created it to disable Superman if he ever went Rogue, but it only stripped away his inhibitions. It was later stolen by Ra's al Ghul who used it in a more lethal way. Another variation was made by Mr. Mxyzptlk, which actually removed Superman's powers like Gold Kryptonite, and gave it to Lex Luthor.
The Talk- It was pretty interesting to see a real life talk show integrated into the show. Aisha Tyler is awesome and so are the rest I guess.
Kim and Kanye- They exist on their earth too. 0_0
What's To Come/Theories:
Next week's 'Manhunter' deals with the aftermath of Supergirl's redecoration of Nation City. Nobody trusts her anymore and what's worse is they are afraid. From the previews we see that Kara is trying to figure how to restore her image the city has of her and confides in an unlikely character. Lucy. We also see that she is trying to fix her relationships with everyone she cares about. Winn tries to comfort Siobhan after her termination from Catco. Our guess is that she will try to help the people of the city accept J'onn while trying to redeem herself. Then the big crossover happens the week after on the 28th, where she teams up with the Flash to take on Silver Banshee, Livewire and some other villains. We may also get a version of the iconic race between the Flash and Superman but with Kara and Barry. There is also supposed to be some tension between Jimmy and Barry as he tries to put his speedster moves on Kara. Barry, mah boi. These last few episodes are for sure going to end the season of with a bang and hopefully propel the show into another season!
We've given most of these episode positive reviews, but we have to say 'Falling' has to be the best episode yet. The episode started out like a normal episode and then BAAMMM. It's an intense roller coaster ride until the end, and the writers weren't afraid to let it end on a sad note. There was no happy ending like there usually is. They dynamic has changed and pushed the show where it needs to go. It was brutal and emotional, showing our beloved Supergirl take a horrifying turn towards the bad side. If this is what we got this week, we can not wait to see the next and the crossover with Flash. The acting from everyone was superb and the action was amazing. We give this 9.8 Kryptos out of 10 and here's to hoping that they get a Season 2! What did you think about this episode? Leave it in the comments below, we'd love to read them!
