The wait is almost over! Daredevil on Netflix airs Season 2 this weekend, and from all the clips and trailers already released, we know this is going to be a monster. Yet, let's put aside the talk about Matt's new suit, or John Bernthal's debut as the Punisher, or Elodie Young gracing the screen as Electra.
Let's discuss the elephant in the room-The Hand. Now, if you've followed Daredevil over the years in the comic books then you already know, but for those who haven't had the pleasure of reading some of the great Daredevil stories, then let's get to know The Hand.
The Hand-is a secret organization of elite, mystical Ninjas founded in 1958 by a group of Japanese nationalist samurai. They were corrupted by an ancient ninja clan called the SNAKEROOT. This clan of deadly Ninja worshiped a primordial demon known only as "The Beast".

These mystical Ninjas were known to be practitioners of occult magic, adding the supernatural element to their already deadly arsenal. In 1588, a Samurai known to the world as Kagenobu Yoshioka became sensei of the Ishiyama Sword School in the village of Kyushua.
Facing growing frustrations with a corrupt government, Yoshioka transformed the school into a training ground for its members. Their goal was to put power back in the hands of honorable Japanese people. The Hand were leaders of organizations , each from one of Japan's five islands.
Then disaster struck. Kagenobu Yoshioka, the founder of The Hand was murdered and in a coup for power- the Snakeroot ninja clan took control and corrupted it by imposing a cult with a demon called The Beast as their deity.
The Beast blessed the new HAND with dark magic. Thus died the dream of Kagenobu Yoshioka as his creation to better the Japanese people now served as mercenaries to seek power for themselves. The Hand sought dominance over all, and only allied themselves with factions for self gain, while seeking to eliminate their enemies worldwide. Daredevil, Electra, and Wolverine have been former members of The Hand.
The hand has five fingers, each of which can exist independently of others. Not unlike the five islands that form Japan. However, when the five fingers of the hand come together for a single, unified purpose... the hand becomes an object of unwavering power!

Last season, the leader of The Hand-NOBU came to Hells Kitchen on the behest of Wilson Fisk. His mission was to kill Daredevil, and in a battle of elite martial artists NOBU was almost victorious-ALMOST.
Now Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) is their target as The Hand comes to Hells Kitchen seeking vengeance. A small army approaches promising death and violence, and Electra (Elodie Young) has returned to Matts life trying to enlist his help in stopping the Yakuza who are vying for power while The Punisher (John Bernthal) cuts loose on the NYC underworld.
