The news of casting for ABC's remake of Dirty Dancing have been rolling in over the last few weeks, and now there's confirmation that Step Up 3D actor Beau Casper Smart will be strapping on his dancing shoes for the film!

Deadline reported Smart's involvement in the project yesterday, with the actor and dancer (and boyfriend of Jennifer Lopez!) also confirming it via his personal Instagram account:

Smart is set to take on the role of Billy, a character probably best known for his part in the infamous "I carried a watermelon" scene. Billy was original played by actor Neal Jones in the 1987 film.

Smart will join a star-studded cast for the remake, including Abigail Breslin as Baby, Colt Prattes as Johnny Castle, Debra Messing as Marjorie Houseman, Sarah Hyland as Lisa and Nicole Scherzinger as Penny Rivera.

The three-hour TV musical is being written by Jessica Sharzer (American Horror Story), with original screenwriter Eleanor Bergstein acting as executive producer. Meanwhile, Tony Award-winning choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler will be coordinating those iconic dance moves.
