Pop singing sensation Gwen Stefani has been vocal about the challenging aftermath of her "juicy" divorce from ex-husband Gavin Rossdale, expressing her heartbreak and the underlying feeling of hopelessness she felt after it was revealed he had been cheating on her.
But fortunately for the 46-year-old, her new romance with Voice co-star Blake Shelton provided her just the support she needed at the most crucial time. So much so, the former No Doubt singer feels he "saved" her. In an interview with Refinery29, she said:
"I think that when you go through what I went through, or what I’m still going through, you think you’re hopeless. You don’t know what’s going to happen. You panic.
"It was a really super-unexpected gift to find a friend, somebody who happened to be going through the exact same thing as me, literally mirroring my experience. I don’t think it’s an accident that that happened. It saved me."
"Our Relationship Was An Influence"
During the recording of her new solo album, 'This Is What the Truth Feels Like,' Stefani had an outpouring of complex emotions, resulting in the "most f*cking personal" music she has produced.
Shelton was on hand to help guide and sculpt her LP, with the 39-year-old providing some direction and influence during the recording process. Stefani added:
"I didn’t have any kind of musical direction for this album. Every song was written around emotions. Of course [our relationship] was an influence. Musically, no. Every song was written purely out of whatever my heart was going through at that moment.”
The singer has previously spoken of her surprise for her new found love with Shelton. The pair have starred together on The Voice since 2014, and have recently made their relationship official.
And, despite her past challenges, it's clear to see she now has No Doubt Shelton is the man for her.
