Jared Leto's Joker has been the subject of many debates. I personally do not know what to think about his upcoming performance. I believe that Heath Ledger's Joker is the epitome of acting in any role.

So, I'm going to do my best not to compare him to Heath. I honestly loved the photos when they were first released last spring. I thought he was something different and that usually can be awesome, or really really bad. David Ayer directed the phenomenal Fury and I am very curious to see what he does with Suicide Squad. He was speaking with Total Film Magazine and had these words to say:

“What Jared has done is absolutely incredible. When he steps onto the set the world stops. Everything stops. What he’s done is so powerful, so menacing, so palpable, you can feel him. The crew stops working and just watches him. I have to get everybody going again because he’s so fascinating.”

Oh my god, that same thing was said during Heath's performance in The Dark Knight. Everyone just stopped and watched Heath — they were all in awe at how powerful his performance was. This could mean we're all in for treat! But, I hope that he's right and not just saying this because this is his movie (I try not be cynical). All the promotional materials we've seen seems to be backing up that claim.

I remember watching the trailer back in July and having my mind being blown on how creepy he actually looks. Then another trailer was released in January; and I thought he sorta looked demonic. I didn't think what the Joker did in the New 52 Comics would ever take place in the films, but not now. David Ayer (writer and director of Suicide Squad) had more to say:

“What’s interesting to me is how there’s been a lot to perception of what this film is because we have been exposed more than other movies. What people think this movie is is not what it is. There’s much more to come.”

At one point, I was more excited for Suicide Squad than Batman v Superman. But now I can say that I am equally excited for all the upcoming superhero movies. I am also extremely curious about The Joker and Harley Quinn's relationship in the upcoming movie. I hope that she breaks away from his grasp and starts her own life somewhere far away. Or I would love to see her partner up with Ivy and create chaos in Gotham! So, do you think Leto's performance as The Joker will blow us all away in Suicide Squad?

'Suicide Squad' hit theaters on August 5th in the United States!
