It's happening some more! The DCEU is expanding even further with a new green lit Lobo movie with Wonder Woman screenwriter, Jason Fuchs to start from scratch (a 2012 script for a Lobo movie was drifting around for a while) and bringing the intergalactic bounty hunter to life on the big screen; this according to The Wrap. Not much else is known at the moment, other than the movie itself being announced. We've yet to hear a release date for the film, though my guess is that it will debut sometime around 2020 when Green Lantern Corps, a Green Lantern team up movie, is set to debut. If I were a betting man, I'd say we should see the gnarly, leather clad, space biker somewhere in the 2022 range.
One thing's for sure: the decision to add Fuchs onto another DCEU project as screenwriter means that Warner Bros. are definitely happy with his work on the Wonder Woman film. Despite the lukewarm reception of last year's Pan, the gritty reimagining of the storybook hero, there is a charming humor in Fuchs' style, evident in Ice Age: Continental Drift, which he also penned. Whether or not this style will work for Lobo in particular is yet to be seen, as well as if this will be an adaption of the more modern New 52 Lobo
Or the older version, with his 90s flare.
I'm hoping for the latter.
That just leaves one question: who the hell is going to play him? I'm hoping for Ron Perlman, possibly. Yeah, he's getting up there in age and already played a comic book character in Hellboy, but I think he'd be just crazy enough to do it and do it well.
Who do you think should play DC's roughest, toughest anti-hero? Let us know in the comments below!
