After rumors of an Indiana Jones 5 were finally confirmed by Disney, the big questions on everyones lips have been whether the original cast will return, or if perhaps the film will perform as big a switcheroo as Indy did in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Mutt was a character introduced in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and played by Shia LaBeouf. However, given the fact that in recent times LaBeouf has moved more into performance art rather than acting, there's a big question mark regarding his return.
So in the case that LaBeouf doesn't return to the role, who could possibly take over from him? Take a look at these five possibilities for actors who could fill his shoes as Mutt, and tell me in the comments section if you agree or if you have a better idea:
Ingruber was a hot pick to play the role of a young Han Solo in Disney's planned prequel spinoff film, but since the The Age of Adaline star missed out on that role, perhaps he could play Indy's son in the upcoming film. I mean, after all, you gotta admit his likeness to Harrison Ford is quite uncanny.
Clint's son has been appearing on screen more and more in recent times, but could he make the time to appear in Indiana Jones 5? After all, he certainly looks like he can rock the leather jacket, meaning he's basically got Mutt's costume down.
Pettyfer might not have a long list of acting credits to his name, but thanks to his appearances in films such as I Am Number Four and Magic Mike, he's certainly a familiar face. Despite being a Brit, I think this young actor definitely has the chops to pull of the role of Indy's son and is worthy of consideration.
After roles in movies such as Whiplash and the Divergent series, we know Teller has plenty to give. So could he be ready to join Harrison Ford on his next adventure as Indiana Jones? I'm not going to lie, I'd be delighted to see Teller on screen next to Ford. And he even shares a bit of a resemblance to LaBeouf, so the replacement wouldn't look too out of place.
The final guy on my list is Mad Max: Fury Road star Nicholas Hoult. While this choice might have seemed a little out of left field last year, we're now in a post-Mad Max world, and Hoult has proved that he can definitely handle the more adventurous-type roles that an Indiana Jones film would bring.
