Now, the X-Men universe wasn't exactly the cheeriest place to be a mutant superhero at the best of times — what with all of the sentinels, anti-mutant protests and evil brotherhoods and such — but it seems that things might just be set to get even worse for our favorite mutant heroes in this May's X-Men: Apocalypse.

Or, at least, it sure does look that way, seeing as...

This New 'X-Men: Apocalypse' Trailer Brings A Whole Lot Of Darkness

That's right, in between the epic mutant-on-mutant battles (of which, happily, it seems there'll be a LOT) and highlighting of just how Quicksilver is going to make his merry way to the X-Men, there's a whole lot of impending doom permeating that there trailer.

Which is actually pretty darned awesome. Not least because that darkness brings along with it what is far and away our best look yet at Oscar Isaac's Apocalypse, the bringer of said doom.

It's like watching Darth Poe Dameron come to life, and I like it.
