Stephen Amell will be adding another award to his shelf this year, as he scoops "Male Star of Tomorrow" from the National Association of Theater Owners at CinemaCon.
Now in its fifth year as CinemaCon, the convention hosts the Big Screen Achievement Awards, and today Mitch Neuhauser (managing director of the con) announced that they would be honoring Arrow star Amell.
Already making his mark on the small screen, Stephen Amell is poised to break out this summer on the big screen with his starring role in ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. We are excited to honor this exciting up-and-coming actor with this year’s Male Star of Tomorrow Award.
Previous award-winners include Britt Robertson (2015), Chadwick Boseman (2014), Armie Hammer (2013), Taylor Kitsch (2012) and Chris Hemsworth (2011).
Amell has previously won a Gemini award for his role in ReGenesis in 2007, and has been nominated for thirteen others - eleven of which are for Arrow. As well as his breakout role in the comic book series, Amell is involved with the CW's two other superhero shows (The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow), the connected animated mini-series (Vixen) and will be co-starring in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows as Casey Jones this summer.
His star is definitely one on the rise, and with all three of the live-action DC comic shows on the CW recently renewed for another season, it seems that his fame as the hooded archer will only keep growing. Amell is also active on social media and does a huge amount of charity work, raising money for a range of causes. He also stars in a reality roadtrip series about wine, Dudes Being Dudes in Wine Country, along with various wine events at conventions.
Amell absolutely deserves this award, and hopefully it will become one of many, many more in the future.
