It's been a great seven years for The Vampire Diaries, but it looks like fans might have to cope with yet another actor leaving the series. Last year around April, fans were told that Nina Dobrev (Elena) would not be returning to the show next fall because she wanted to pursue other acting avenues. Now, it seems history may be repeating itself.

This time it's Ian Somerhalder who's rumored to not be returning to The Vampire Diaries following Season 7. Spoilers Guide put out a summary that reads:

In an attempt to make things right with his brother, Damon offers to have Stefan’s scar magically transferred to him, only to discover that doing so may come with some unexpected consequences. With time running out and Rayna closing in on Stefan, Valerie desperately attempts to reason with Damon before it’s too late. Elsewhere, after being framed for breaking Rayna out of The Armory, Enzo attempts to clear his name, but not before a violent run-in with Nora forces him to make an upsetting discovery.

I will be so crushed if Damon dies! Like, I am just not ready. What will the show be without our Damon? Even showrunner Julie Plec doesn't want the boys to leave. Recently, in an interview with E! News, she said:

“I finally realized that my destiny on this show, creatively, is tied in to Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley, and I mean that in a really good way.
"As long as those boys who I now consider my friends want to keep telling the story, then I won’t walk away from telling the story.”

I guess I'll have to wait 'til April 1 when the episode "Days Of Future Past" airs to find out what happens next. Check out the official promo video below for the episode.

Why make us wait so long to find out what happens? And the promo doesn't help with the rumors that Somerhalder's following in the footsteps of Dobrev and quitting the show to further his acting career. However, as of now he's not put out a statement addressing the rumors that he is leaving. All we can do is wait for the episode to air.

"Days Of Future Past" will air on April 1 at 8:00 p.m. on the CW, so make sure to tune in and watch. If you'd like to catch up before the big episode airs, you can watch the latest five episodes at the CW official website.

5 Things We'll Miss About Damon Salvatore

1. His sexy smirk

There is nothing better than turning on a episode of The Vampire Diaries and seeing Damon's beautiful smirk. It can make anyone fall in love with him.

2. His evilness

There's one thing everybody knows about Damon: he's an evil little man. But isn't that why we love him so much? He's just so dang good at being bad!

3. The love he gives to his family

He may not always know how to show it (or want to) but when the time comes, you can bet your bottom dollar he'll be there for Stefan.

4. The romantic side

It doesn't really matter if Damon is killing someone or dipping you on the dance floor, he always comes off as romantic — or is that only to me?

5. That sense of humor

If you don't get his "Damon Humor" you're crazy! It just doesn't seem right if Damon isn't cracking some joke that isn't appropriate for the moment. Nobody can make you laugh in bad situation like he can.

Well, those are five things I'm gonna miss about our bad boy. Hopefully he stays on for at least a couple more seasons, but everything comes to an end.
